50% discount on bill after paying with Target card
I am pretty sure that this is a scam I just fell for 😡🤬😟… this number [Edited: "Personal Information"] left a message saying and I quote, “Hi there this call is for valued customers of Comcast Xfinity to remind that today is the last day to take advantage of our exclusive 50% discount offer on your account in order to avail this opportunity and save monthly bills simply call us back at [Edited: "Personal Information"] from 8 AM to 5 PM Pacific standard time thank you and have a great day…”
I call they sell me the bill of goods that if I want to take advantage I just needed to buy a target card in the amount of $300 then call back with the authorization code to pay the first 6 months. Somehow they have access to my account because they paid my bill for this month and said I was good! Then today I was charged $190 cancellation fee because I haven’t paid the $300. When I called to inquire about the charge they kept repeating the terms I agreed to and when I questioned it and asked for the terms in writing they transferred me. Then I called it a scam they got upset and hung up on me!!!! Are you kidding me 😤😤

I just had this happen to me. It is from a breach at Comcast that happened in December 2022. They were able to access my bill and get information from there.

Yes this is definitely a scam call. We would not request for you to pay us with Target cards. I would love to take a look at your account and see if there is anything we can do to help you with your balance @user_c41304.
Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address? Our team can most definitely take a further look at this issue. To send a "Direct Message" ("Private") message:

I got the same call on 5/18/23. I figured it was a scam when they wouldn't give me any straight answers, but kept evading my questions.

I just had this happen to me. I received a voicemail asking me to call [Edited: "Personal Information"] to receive 50% off my Xfinity bill for the next three years. I just needed to pay $780 for one year of service and then for the next two years. My monthly bill would be $65. I was told that by agreeing, I would receive a credit of $130 on my account, and when I called
[Edited: "Personal Information"] for the billing department; I would pay the $780. So with the payment for a year and the two-month credit, I would receive 14 months prepaid. Then I was told that would be done via a Target Red Card.
I did not give my billing information or do anything else. I asked them to remove my name from this promotion and called Xfinity. The customer service representative confirmed that their security department was aware of this SCAM and told me that my bill did not have credit, nor was my CC information compromised.

Yes, I just had the exact voicemail today. I called them back and was put in on hold with Comcast X-finity music background to make me think that they are not scammers. They were able to access my account to make the one-month payment using someone else checking account. I have called Comcast X-finity to report the incident and they are keeping an eye on the pending payment. I was too lazy to go get them a gift card from Target.
Fake number that scammers are using for billing department: [Edited: "Personal Information"] and sale department: [Edited: "Personal Information"]. When call these number you will hear the greeting from Comcast X-finity.

This is taking place by actual Xfinity Employees, my Sister-in-Law called the Xfinity phone number on her bill, made a payment which was posted to her account and then proceeded to tell her Xfinity and Target had a promotion going if she would buy gift cards and give them the card numbers it would be a credit to her account and she would get 50% off. So beware, Xfinity is involved.

I just got this call and I almost fell for it until I found this forum. Thank goodness!
I called xfinity and let them know about this scam. Xfinity confirmed there is no such promotion.
I am worried that this scammer got into my account and their phone prompts sounded like a legitimate xfinity phone. I even received a text message from xfinity that my bill was paid.
I was really skeptical when I heard the accent of the person I talked with. Not being discriminatory but he sounded like coming from the country where most scammers are generated.
I hope xfinity would do something to secure the accounts of their customers so these scammers could not scam more people.
Just beware folks!

I got a similar call today and almost fell for it. What made me suspicious was that near the end the scammer told me if I do this by 21:00 tonight, I will get a $50 gift card on top of the $20 savings per month for the next 3 years. Like others reported here, he was asking me to prepay for my discounted bill with a Target gift card. I tried calling customer service and it took them over an hour to pick up. The rep was in India and, like all the other ones I have dealt with in India, he was clueless. Xfinity's after-hours customer service is just a big waste of time. While on hold, I did a search and found this forum that assured me it was a scam.
If it was not for the fact that the scammer knew my last name and my monthly bill amount, I would have not spent 16 minutes talking to him. Obviously, these scammers have access to Xfinity customer data. Xfinity needs to inform customers of this.

Yup….. did the same thing to me. It has to be an inside job because right before my eyes the payment was deleted. I certainly hope Xfinity/ Comcast is investigating this

I’d like to know what Comcast is going to do to compensate us for this VERY REAL breech. Admittedly, I was dumb enough to almost complete the transaction BECAUSE it showed on my account that the payment was ‘waived’ for agreeing to the new promotion 🤬🤬
