I currently have the XB6 Comcast modem and get a 700Mbps through an ethernet wired connection. I can get 225Mbps through the 5Ghz wireless frequency to my Samsung tablet. So which Comcast modem will I ned to get 1Gb wifi speeds? And what frequency will my wireless devices need to connect at the 1 Gb speed? Is this 5G?
Is this 5G?
No. 5G is a cellular service.
The downlad speed to the modem is 1GB. You will Never get 1GB over wireless, no matter what combination of hardware you use. Wireless speeds depend on many, many factors. You will never get the 'theoretical' speed of whatever wireless protocol you are using.
The ad is for 1GB connection to the modem, not for wireless connections.
Go look on DSLReports. There's a thread about speed increases on Xfinity gigabit plans.
I use a Arris T25 supported eMTA, with 802.3ad LAG enabled, which gives me a 2Gb pipe between the eMTA and my router, an Asus RT-AX88U which is a WiFi 6 router. My 5 GHz network is configured with 160 MHz bandwidth (8x20MHz channels), and I routinely get 1.0 - 1.2 Gbps over WiFi to my WiFi 6 clients.
