Do I need a 2nd router? How does that work?

My friend moved into a 2 story townhome, and using internet only. They have the modem in the living room. She has her work PC upstairs in a bedroom and had been using Wi-Fi, but has been told that due to security issues she has to be connected via ethernet. I'm sure it's too far to run ethernet cable, and she has a coax outlet in her room. How would I go about hooking her PC up? Do I need a router to plug into the coax outlet and then connect her PC to that? I have no clue, and she needs to get this done asap. Thanks all!!

You might look at this discussion about MOCA (Multimedia Over Coax Alliance):

Since it’s an ASAP situation,
If your friend has coax in her room, make sure it is live and move their modem and router there and maybe use pods or extenders in the rest of the house for coverage. Until you come up with a different solution

If they go down the MoCA route, make sure they have a MoCA filter installed.  Security-wise, MoCA without a filter is like wi-fi without a passphrase.

Also, consider just moving the modem?  Ie: wired for the secure PC, wi-fi for other things.  This seems like the ASAP answer.  (Of course, in either case the cable outlet has to be "active" – ie: connected – sometimes the other end is just dangling loose when a cable outlet is not in use.)

By the way ethernet cables are generally spec'd to 100 meters (though the actual routing can be tricky.)
