Ondemand Picture keeps pixelating!!!!!!!! Poor quality for past 4-6 weeks.

I am on a new ThinkPad- Flash has been enabled.  Live TV, no issues.  Issues only occur when watching Ondemand.  The picture pixelates and  makes it impossible to watch.  I have had it up to my eyeballs with the poor service from xfinity and cannot understand why in god's name it is so difficult to watch a show on my latop- I have been doing it for years and about 4-6 weeks ago, I was auto logged out and service has not been the same since.  I have tried rebootting modem.  restarting laptop.  clearing cache.  nothing works.  Why oh why oh why???? Super frustrated.

Re: pixelation issues when watching on demand programs but live channels ok

The problem seems to be with chrome on windows.  It is working ok on i-pad. Installed firefox (really did not want to but cant install safari on windows anymore as is not supported) and it seems to be  working ok on firefox. why is chrome an issue?

Re: pixelation issues when watching on demand programs but live channels ok

I have the same pixelation problem with Chrome (v78.x) on Windows 10 1903.   Not installing flash under Firefox.  Tried the Microsoft Edge browser and it seems to be working for now.

pixillated on demand video on CHROME seen w/o pixillation

i found that the Xfinity on demand video that is pixillated like all get out on Chrome, can be seen clearly without pixillation on the History channel under the Xfinity subscription ON CHROME!!  check it out: :Ancient Aliens Season 14 episode 5, secrets of Stonehenge.  so... looks like it is an XFINITY issue NOT a CHROME issue. nor a Flash issue?

damian on site, also found that although the hallmark channel pixellation has been 'fixed' i still have pixellation on ABC's Grey's Anatomy, and PBS  History Patterned planet, but on PBS. Org and ABC.com the pixellation is NOT there.

soo, Xfinity still has work to do in both fixing and finding all the on demand contractuall channel pixellations.

**Update 12/12/2019**

With the recent release of Chrome 79 we have verified that we can no longer replicate this issue. In the coming week, all impacted users should start to see this resolved. In order to facilitate this fix, we recommend waiting until your Chrome version updates or manually performing the update yourself. For additional information on how to update your Chrome version, see here: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95414?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en

Thank you again for your continued patience as we worked to resolve this.

@bostonkat

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing when attempting to use Xfinity Stream. We are currently investigating a possible bug in Chrome 78 that may be causing this. In the meantime, we recommend trying one of the following workarounds by either:

1. Disable hardware acceleration in Chrome. Settings > Advanced > Use hardware acceleration when available > OFF > restart Chrome.

2. Play the TV GO version of the On Demand item. From the More menu button (… icon), choose Watch Options > choose the TV GO option (usually at the bottom of the list).

Thank you in advance for your patience as we continue to work to resolve this permanently.

Additionally, we recommend that you check to ensure your devices and web browser meets our minimum system requirements needed to use the Xfinity Stream website, found here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfinity-tv-website-requirements

Please note, not all web browsers/devices support the Xfinity Stream website.

Did that and seems to FINALLY be working- note to others the watch options are on the show page under 3 dots on right.  All watch options work now.

Thank you!!  So appreciate the assistance.

I keep trying to get a normal streaming of HBO even.  The pixels flashing are enough to start someone to have seizures, so you may want to get on this before somthing like that does occur.  I am not kidding, strobe lights, flashing lights, can trigger seizures.

Re: watching saved shows on my PC , xfinity.com/stream

The show i was watching was 9-1-1 and this was on my xfinity streaming on my PC..   on all past shows or movies but i went to settings on google chrome and went to advance and i -->Use hardware acceleration when available----i turned this off.  i went to watch a show and the quality was low so while the show was on i hit the blue PLAYER settings button and changed it to AUTO and i did a refresh. it works great now and i am still waiting to hear from COMCAST Tech on there answers since they are confused.  I found the answer here on this post!     how do you post a pictures on here??  i use Imgur instead of photobucket.. thats why i had to use a link.

Re: Ondemand Picture keeps pixelating!!!!!!!! Poor quality for past 4-6 weeks.

I had a xfinity tech come out and fixed my pixilation issue plus explained how to use the Adobe flash,

He switched from Google chrome to microsoft edge to fix the picture and to go into google settings to allow Adobe flash to activate***each time I go into Xfinity on demand for any shows. Not a perfect answer as you know Adobe Flash is being phased out by December 2020.  Thje service call was no charge  to me since He had to rewire my incoming cable hookup. Hope this helps.

Yes!  That's it!  I have the same problem on Google chrome, but logged in with Microsoft Edge and I can watch my shows now.  Thank you!

I'm having the same issue.  Happened right after I was logged out of the Xfinity website.  I can stream live and watch on demand movies with a clear quality stream.   But am unable to watch shows on demand.

Re: Ondemand Picture keeps pixelating!!!!!!!! Poor quality for past 4-6 weeks.

Not trying to beat a dead horse here, but is this something that Comcast is going to fix anytime soon? I'm still experiencing this issue on multiple computers.

Chrome is probably the most popular browser around and it's doing away with flash support coming up in the next couple of months. It's been posted on their browser for like a year now. Is Comcast working on a browser video solution that does not require Flash?

Watching Comcast online using Chrome browser when I'm doing things while near my PC (almost all the time) is my prime means of TV watching (live or On Demand). I should not have to change browsers to be able to watch something I pay for, and I refuse to use MS Edge or download any other browsers. I have no problems at all watching Netflix or Amazon Prime on my PC using Chrome. They seem to be on it.

use the edge browser for now. Chrome has introduced an issue that 'may' be fixed by navigating chrome settings and turning off hardware acceleration until chrome fixes the browser. (there have been 3 updates where the on-demand problem has been experienced).  Reference: couple of months for flash that is not correct. the dropping of support of flash by chrome at the end of December 2020 (next year).  flash is only used for verifying the secure encrypted path for HD stream.

Re: Ondemand Picture keeps pixelating!!!!!!!! Poor quality for past 4-6 weeks.

Thanks for the response. I did try turning off hardware acceleration. The video played fine with some minor lag, nothing at all like it was before... but, it was not good for onilne gaming and other activitiesi use a browser for. I bit the bullet and ran Edge, but this is still something that Comcast should have had fixed by now. This issue has been reported for several weeks now.  It should just work as it worked before. End users shouldn't have to jump thru hoops for workarounds. This is something I feel that Comcast techs should be on top of!
