I was having a noise issue with mine too. It was a high pitched squeal. I called support and they shipped a new one to me since the stores are closed. (Just a hint, do a box reset before you call or you'll have to do one and wait for an automated call back.)
Inside the box, there's a very small IC cooling fan. It sadly is drawing air in and with it dirt and dust. If you can, take your unit to a gas station, put a pin or something else in the fam blades to prevent it from spinning, and blow it out with high pressure air.
Or, if you're willing to risk it, blow it out without stopping the fan. Either way, this might work or fail, depending on whether the fan has been physically breached by the dirt.
Good Luck.

that is an a very bad compressed air source is is going to put water spray (condensation as pressure is released) inside the unit. swap it out at local store or have them drop off a replacement to you to reinstall.
I have the same issue and is very annoying.
I think is not the unit, is a bad design of the cablke box.
Does Xfinity has an alternative cable box?
If I take to a Xfinity store, they will change it on the spot?
Thanks!!!
