Xfinity 4k - XG1v4 Cable Box Availability
Called Xfinity and asked about the availability of XG1v4 cable boxes at my location (WA state), which has the capability to stream 4k content through Netflix. Was assured, with repeated confirmations, that they were available to the local service store, would just have to bring in my existing cable box and exchange it. Bought a nice LG OLED TV, upgraded my Netflix account to receive Ultra HD, and took my box down to the local service center for exchange, per customer service direction. You can probably guess what happened next - "sorry, we don't have any 4k boxes, don't know when we will". Anyone else been misled by the Xfinity garbage customer service? Went online to see what lies they convey on their website regarding this matter, and found this: https://www.xfinity.com/support/cable-tv/uhd-4k-faqs/ More misleading BS. Wanted to warn anyone else potentially in the same situation as myself not to believe anything you are told or read about the availability of XG1v4 boxes; go to your service center first to confirm.

I thought this thread was in reference to technical questions related to the Xfinity XG1v4 DVR, NOT how to obtain one. Everyone needs to read through this thread and stop asking the same question over and over.
____________
Don’t worry about it, those posts get moved to the proper thread.

Will I have to return my existing DVR box?
Will my other mini boxes be able to broadcast 4K or just this DVR box?

Why does the new XG1v4 not have an optical audio out? I have found in the past when feeding the HDMI through a home stereo receiver that is a 7.1 surround unit that there can be an audio lag. I have been able to bypass that by sending the video directly to the HDTV via the HDMI and then send the audio directly to the 7.1 receiver via the optical audio. I'm concerned that going back to routing the HDMI through the receiver I will again experience audio/video lag. Thanks for your detailed reply.

TosLink is a deprecated technology and restricts audio from newer codecs. Audio is now carried by the HDMI cable. the audio/video lipsync is adjustable and usually needs to be set when you attach a new device to the TV's HDMI input port. the TV actually moves the video forward/back to let you match lipsync. Use the TV's remote and audio menu for adjustment.

Monday begins the regular workweek. A Comcast official employee should respond during the week.

I installed the new X1 4k box and replaced the regular X1 box. The sound immediately deteriorated and got much lower. I have a Samsung 4k TV with Samsung 3.1 soundbar connected via optical cable to the Samsung Hub. Volume is good with Amazon Prime Video, YouTube or any other internet based video. The Comcast / Xfinity feeds need to be turned way up to hear. Is this a box issue that Comcast is having?

Does the Xfinity XG1v4 TV Box include a DVR? If so, how do I get one. I already have a Sony 4k TV and the Netflix UHD account.

I had the same issue with my Samsung 8.1 soundbar until I went into the soundbars "Sound Effect" menu and changed it from "Cinema" to "Smart Volume". To get the best sound quality you need to use the HDMI Arc connection from your 4K TV to your soundbar. The optical (Toslink) is old technology so if at all possible try using the HDMI Arc connections.

Hello, all!
If you would like to receive an X1 4K DVR box - please send me a private message (don't post your private information publicly) with your full name, address, and a phone or account number. In order to send me a private message click on my name ComcastElla, then click Private Message Me.
If a private messaging feature is missing - please post a reply in this thread (Hi, posting to enable PM feature) and you should get an access to private messages.
Please keep in mind:
- There is no additional charge for 4K DVR. However, there is a charge for a DVR service, so if you currently don't have a DVR service and would like to receive a 4K DVR box - we will need to add this charge to your account. We discuss billing information (including rates and prorated charges) only in private messages.
- You will need to return your current DVR box back to us as soon as possible. Otherwise, you will get an additional DVR cable box charge. You can do it at any UPS location or XFINITY stores.
Thank you
