XG1-V4 Powers Off w/TV --- Does the Box Update If the Power Indicator is OFF?

Two of my Sony TV's got software updates and now when the television powers off, the xg1-v4 turns off too.  I checked the Bravia Sync (CEC) settings on the TV and it doesn't show the cable box on the list of controlled devices.

I don't really care if the box remains on or not, but the question is; does the box receive overnight updates if the power indicator show it's off?

did you check under the set top box menu power settings and turn CEC off there, too?
