Hello....We just upgraded to th eXfinity X1 Dvr equipment with one wireless box. The main Dvr box and internet is working perfect but the wireless box setup in our bedroom is not syncing with the main Dvr box to receive the channels on our tv. We went through the complete setup including connecting to our wireless network. The modem we our using is the Arris SB6190. It seems to always come back to message of restarting all boxes like in a loop. I have restarted the boxes over 5 times but no luck. What is odd , when pressing the guide button on remote, the channel guide actually comes up but does not work once a channel is selected....Is there anything that needs to be done when using third party modem like the Arris SB6190?...thank you..

To have a Wireless TV Box in your home, you'll need Xfinity TV service, at least one additional X1 TV Box to act as the primary X1 device on your account and Xfinity Internet with an eligible Wireless Gateway (Arris XB3 TG1682G, Arris XB6 TG3482G, Cisco 3941T or Technicolor XB6 CGM4140COM) to stream video over the Xi5's WiFi connection.
Note: The Wireless TV Box will not work with customer-owned modems ...
Thanks for your response. To fully understand your comment, does it mean that at this time there is no modem out there we can buy that will work with the Xfinity X1 equipment and the only way is to rent the modem from Xfinity?
It is only the wireless xi5 and xi6 boxes that have the requirement to use a rented gateway. If you have coax by your TVs the other X1 boxes will work.
However, the Xi6 is the only non-DVR 4k box so your secondary boxes may need to be 1080 (but there's not that much 4k content anyway).
We had coax cable connection prior to changing to the wireless box Xi6. The point was to avoid having cable run across the room to the tv location. Thats why we change equipment from cable to wireless. At the end of the day I see we are only left with the option of renting Xfinity's modem in order for the connection to work. Thanks for your assistance!
I guess there is no other option but to rent the modem from Xfinity for the wireless Xi6 bx to work. Thanks for your assistance!
the xi5/xi6 connect wirelessly using MoCA over ethernet bridged to wifi. The MoCA is how set top boxes communicate and the xi5/xi6 need a comcast hub (the special gateway/modem in this case) to bridge MoCA to ethernet and to wireless. the set top boxes also appear to be able to be connected to the same modem via ethernet.
