When will Comcast allow Screensaver to be completely disabled?

I am waiting for Comcast to have a setting to completely disable the useless screensaver.  I would turn off the TV at midnight and the annoying screensaver will be ON when I wake up 6 hours later.  The TV itself is turned OFF but I need the STB to be ON so news at 5AM is recorded on my old HDD Recorder DVR via RGB.   I ended up switching back to the old STB and waiting for Comcast to get rid of that annoying screensaver and the irritating reboot at a specified time.

Anybody know if the screensaver disable option will ever be implemented?  All my HDD Recorder recordings are just images of the dreaded screensaver.

I am also getting these annoying service message pop-ups also to update the equipment which can't be disabled also, it seems, but I have no plans to upgrade until Comcast adds the screensaver disable option.

Anybody else with the same frustrations?

I also wish it had an off setting. The screen saver being 'on' won't interfere with recordings being made nor with live TV being buffered.

it does interfere with any recording other than those made by built-in DVR

it's very annoying and Comcast repeatedly admitted that Screen Saver coming on overnight while tuned to live TV is NOT the expected behavior, but looks like nothing can be done to fix it

COMCAST will NOT listen to us as customers! I will NOT upgrade to X1 unless/until they allow customers to control their own systems by providing an optio of DEACTIVATING the absurd screen saver feature.

Repeated requests have been made in person with COMCAST sales staff at several storefronts, and I know this concern was sent up the COMCAST food chain.

One can clearly see in the forums & on-line how many COMCAST customers want to be able to totally disable screensaver on our devices!

Allowing customers an “off” option in screensaver settings should be a relatively simple program fix, so it is very obvious COMCAST has no regard for what customers are requesting.

Although I had obtained the X1 equipment in preparation to upgrade, I returned it after I learned there was NO WAY to have control over this most annoying and UNWANTED feature!

Assuming COMCAST continues to ignore our requests as customers I will NEVER upgrade to X1. If/when COMCAST cuts off service to legacy equipment in the future, I will cease being a customer!

there may be a legal liability issue with expensive OLED screen 'burns' from stationary images. Originally OLED were said not to be affected by burned in images but experience is out there (see youtube for demonstrations).  I wish they would make it an option if it is a legal issue perhaps 'signing' a digital document leaving Comcast harmless for burned-in OLEDs.

if OLED can handle up to 5 hours of "still" screen (menus and such) than why not abort the menu after like 3 hours - many menus automatically exit after idling for a while

Hello All,

I understand why not having the option to disable the screensaver can be frustrating. However, I don't have the ability to fix this. I will share your feedback with my leadership, and I 'd also recommend using this link to share your feedback about why having this option would be beneficial for you. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I agree....they NEED to allow us to disable this Screensaver.  NOTHING on live TV is a still picture therefore WTH do they force  this feature.  We pay good money for xfinity and I should be able to keep my TV on ALL night if I want.  I need a TV on to sleep to drown out the road noise.  This feature infuriates me and we should all keep complaining about it until they do something!!
