Voice out on PBS

The other channels seem OK, but I lose the voice on PBS.

ONLY out on the new cable box, which I just replaced. The old one in the next room is fine.

Music and background sounds are fine, only voice is lost.

I replaced the HDMI with regular cable. It made no difference.

I reset the audio language. It made no difference.

I tried changing languages, first to Canadian English, then to Spanish. It made no difference.

Please let me know if you have any solution.  I don't watch much but PBS, so the the whole cable system is useless to me if I can't get that.

please do a test. go to that channel and see if you have the problem. if so, go to your xfinity settings menu audio and set output to 'stereo'. have voice again?

Under Device Settings are only two choices:

Audio Language (SAP) Reset

HDMI Audio Output (HDMI not detected)

It is not detected because I switched to regular cable. The problem mysteriously disappeared about an hour later, though the recording is still without voice.

Meanwhile, the FX cartoons have suddenly turned to Spanish. Reseting the language doesn't help.

Now it's out again. Apparently, this depends on what program is showing: It didn't like Inspector Morse, but did like Maigret. Right now, it's blocking all sound from Oregeon Revealed. I have no idea why. The next channel is normal.

Also, the cartoons are in Spanish again. Changing the language doesn't help. Resetting the language doesn't help.

It doesn't appear to match any of those. The designation on the case is X1D-P.

your reply above shows SAP is on (press down and then left to SAP, then press OK to turn off the check mark). working?

Thanks, SAP wasn't checked, but now it is.  Let you know if that doesn't fix it.
