Using XR15 to control TV --- AND --- Audio Receiver
It's frustraiting to me that I can control both devices with the remote, but I can't do them at the same time. I can only have one programmed to control volume at a time. This that this doesn't seem to make sence when all that is needed is a simple button on the remote to toggle back and forth. I'm shocked to see such a sofisticated device does not have such basic functionaly.
I've added a comment from another person who was asking about my very problem but I never saw an answer. Here is his message:
""I can only find where it explains how to program the remote to control the TV or an Audio Device, but not how to control the TV and an Audio Device . So, is it possible to program the X1 remote to control your TV and your audio device, as muliple web pages state, or are the web pages wrong, and you can only program the remote to control your TV or your Audio device, but not both? I kinda have the same issue.. I programmed the XR-15 to my Samsung Tv then to my Denon surround sound. Everything works fine, but I'm wondering if there is a way to have the XR15 control the power on and off on my Denon surround sound but the volume on my tv instead of the Denon?? I remember on Direct tv I could tell it whch device to control the volume on..

I think if you add the receiver it is going to control the volume there. Alternatively if the TV and receiver/sound bar are connected by HDMI, you may be able to set the remote to only control the TV and enable HDMI control (CEC) on both devices so the TV will automatically control the power and volume on the receiver/sound bar. I use that approach because my receiver is positioned too low to hit with the IR remote for some seating positions. I have sound turned off on the TV but changing its volume will change the receiver volume through HDMI control.

You could check to see if there are firmware updates for either device. HDMI CEC is supposed to be a standard but can be quirky between brands. My TV and receiver are both Sony and it seems to work OK.

This does no good for AVR receivers without blutooth capability. Thers seems to be a need for two remotes, one for the TV/Xfinity X1 and the other to control the sound. (Sound is fiber optic to a Denon AVR-4308CI)

The X1 remote should have a code to control Denon receivers. Or, HDMI CEC might do it from the TV.
