Possible to somehow send a link to youtube video

So with the kids home, I find all these links to youtube videos for instructions, drawing, music, dancing, etc, but searching youtube through the app on Xfinity is painful at best and I can almost never find the right video. Is there anyway to somehow send a link via email or something to the TV account? I feel stupid even asking if something like this is possible, but I am desperate. Maybe there is some way in which this can be done or set up?

Thanks!

There are a couple of things you can try:

If you try using your voice remote, you can say "<Topic> on Youtube" so as an example "Cooking lessons on Youtube" or "Kids drawing on Youtube"

Our editorial team also programs great Youtube content in the various Xfinity menus on X1. So if you visit "Sports" or "Music" or "Kids" ,you'll see Youtube content there, along with other non Youtube videos.

Hope this helps

Another thing you can do is connect the YouTube app on your X1 box to your Google account;

  1. Open the YouTube app on the X1 cable box
  2. Go to the settings in the left hand navigation panel (the cog wheel at the bottom)
  3. Scroll to Link with TV code.
    You should see the following instructions along with a 12 digit code
  4. Open the YouTube app on your smartphone
  5. Go to the Settings for the YouTube app of the smartphone
  6. Tap Watch on TV
  7. Enter 12 digit code that is on the TV

Now if you find a video using your smartphone, you can cast it to the X1 box as long as you have the YouTube app opened on both devices.  Find the video you want to play, then start playing it.  If it doesn't start on the screen right away you can get it there by tapping the cast button (The square TV looking icon with the WiFi indicator on it) and you can then tell the content you have found to play on the TV that way.  It also has the advantage of letting you keep searching for more content on the smartphone while being able to watch the previously selected video still on the TV.

It would be nice if Comcast updated the YouTube on Xfinity app to allow sharing of YouTube links via the TV to someone else's email.
