Pairing a new remote

I added a new tv and set top box. When I tried to set the remote to control my LG tv, the other 2 TV's in the house popped up pairing messages. I had to use an older remote to successfully pair and control the box and tv. I've never seen a remote control TVs in other rooms. Any ideas?

So, I figured it out. It was mostly operator error. After I paired the remote with the cable box, I was using the wrong key combination to pair the TV and stereo. HINT: Don't be in a hurry when you do it. Read the screen carefully. Bottom line is it works and thank you for the assistance.

Hold the remote right up to the box and try again

adding... the xr15 is designed not to be used with IR for set top boxes. it probably sends out a discover zigbee RF message all the in-range set top boxes can receive.  each remote can be paired to but one set top box at a time but each set top box can have up to 5 remotes paired to them via RF. Each TV will have its own code (unique) so just use another remote in the other rooms to dismiss or let it time out.

I'm not able to try anything for a day or two. I'll post what I find based on these recommendations.
