Old silver/gray remote

Old silver/gray remote

We had an old Xfinity silver remote control that worked with our cable box and our TV (to switch inputs).  The new X1 remotes do not work with our TV properly -- they control the volume but I am unable to switch inputs on my LG TV like I could with the silver remote.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get one of the older silver/gray remotes from Comcast?  This would allow us to fully contol our TV again.

Thank you!

Try your local service center, but those were phased out awhile ago, they may have a few kicking around. Or try EBay

Why not use your LG remote?  Or does it not have the ability to change sources?

The LG remote works, but then we have to use two remotes (I know... "First World Problems." )  With the old silver remote, we could use one remote to control our cable box, TV, and Apple TV.  It worked really well.

None of the new X1 remotes work correctly with our LG TV.  You can get to the Input menu, however when you click "OK" nothing happens.  On the silver remote, "Ok/Select" would activate the selection. The new "OK" doesn't work with the LG TV even thought the other functions work fine.  I did a search and it seems this is a common problem for LG TVs and Xfinity.  I'm just not sure why it used to work fine but doesn't now.

If you use the grey remotes you’re limiting your use of the X1 features

Honestly, I could do anything I needed to with the old remotes.  They were easier for me to use plus they still worked the TV.  The buttons on the newest remote are harder for us to activate.  The only the silver remote didn't have was voice commands but we find those highly overrated.  Over half the time, when we speak the command it gets it wrong.  Sort of defeats the point, IMO.

For us this has been a case of newer not being better.

Re: Old silver/gray remote

If I buy a "legacy" remote from eBay, where would I find directions to pair it with my cable box?

We also have a silver remote (with red OK), and the button I will miss is the tiny "HD zoom" that "normalizes" the screen sometimes when the TV remote doesn't.

it is not part of the X1 control remote and it does not include voice remote.

Re: Old silver/gray remote

Right, but that's not my question--
Someone above recommended buying an older/silver remote on eBay and I'm wondering how I would pair it to our box. I thought those came automatically programmed.
We don't have an X1 box or voice remote...we've still got the older type cable box with the blue On Demand menu. I guess we're "living in the past," but it's what we're satisfied with for the moment.

You shouldn’t have to do anything to the remote, if you have legacy equipment.

Great. Thank you for the response. I will try the Xfinity store first.

@mb340 : I don't have the X1 remote or an LG TV, but on the SLIGHT chance that this will help:

Have you already tried pressing the INPUT button several times? ...so, leaving the OK button and directional buttons out of it (or using the up/down buttons if you're not).
It seems like you've already tried everything, so it's just an idea.
