Netflix - Using Both X1 and Non-XI Netflix Apps

I searched to see if this question has been answered but many of the Netflix questions seem to be gone from the forum.

I recently signed up for a double play package that includes Netflix and have linked my existing Netflix account through the X1 platform. Can I still sign into my existing Netflix account without going through X1 without being double billed?

For example - say I'm house sitting for someone who has a different service provider (any company other than Xfinity) and a Netflix app on their SmartTV.  Can I still log into Netflix through the app on their TV without incurring additional charges, or can I only watch Netflix by going through the X1 platform?

Just checking because if the Netflix charge covered by Xfinity limits me to the one TV in my house connected to X1, it's really not a very good deal. Would rather go back to paying Netflix directly to log in from anywhere there's any kind of Internet service.  Thanks.

Thanks for the response!

Do not see third party device credentials as an option in the Netflix settings after opening through X1.  The credentials that I've always had for my existing Netflix account still work when I try logging in via Netflix.com on my tablet or via the app on my phone.  Logging in via X1, Netflix.com, the Netflix app on my phone using the same email address.  So, everything works.

Just wondering if I'm going to get charged by Xfinity for logging in through the X1 platfom per my package AND by Netflix for logging in directly through Netflix.com and the app on my phone.  If so, I really do not see the point of having Netflix as part of my Xfinity package since I can just pay one fee to Netflix to log in via any device.

i was not able to locate the archived post about this. From what I recall, you go to the app on the X1, settings, and there is a menu choice (in account area?) to generate an external username/password to use on 3rd party devices. would you post what you found for future customer questions? My netflix is provided as part of my cell phone plan so I can not see the menu you see.

my response was to the 'how to sign on to 3rd party app to a Netflix account that is included in my X1 subscription'. It now appears you just wish to use (like I do) your Netflix subscription you pay for separately outside of comcast on the x1 netflix app.  comcast does not charge you nor does netflix charge you for using the X1 netflix app if you already subscribe to netflix.

No, actually, that's not my question.

Yes, I already had a Netflix account when I signed up for a double play package that includes Netflix.  When I did so, the Xfinity agent said that Xfinity would essentially pick up the tab for my existing Netflix account and that would start when I linked my existing account to my Xfinity account through the X1 platform, which I did.

My question is whether Xfinity will continue to pick up the charge for my existing account if I access Netflix directly WITHOUT going through the X1 platform.  Will my existing Netflix account somehow be de-linked from my Xfinity account if I do something like login directly via Netflix.com?  Will Netflix register that as something distinct from my Xfinity account and charge me separately from what Xfinity is paying for through the double play package?

If so, then I really do not see the point of having an Xfinity plan that includes Netflix and I'll look into whether a plan that doesn't is cheaper.

you will not be charged twice. netflix is glad you can access the account whereever you are.

If you're signed up for the Basic Plan (one device, SD) then you can only be streaming from one device at a time, doesn't matter which one it is - you cannot stream from both your X1 Box and another device at the same time. However, you will not be delinked or logged out from any device you choose to use Netflix on without you expressly logging out or delisting it yourself.

my understanding is that for netflix accounts through comcast you can go to the netflix app's settings to get an account/username to use for other devices. won't add to your streams but no need to log out of the app/x1 set top box.
