IP Cable Box

I see there are a number of IP cable boxes now available. I was wondering if/when xFinity plans to go with a more modern device?

Re: IP Cable Box

What’s wrong with the present boxes? Flex boxes are recently added to the lineup

Re: IP Cable Box

While this didn't answer my question, there are several reasons. I use my iPad as a single remote for my ten AV devices. With the exception of the xFinity cable box, all the others are IP controllable. In order to control the cable box, I need an IP to IR converter device. This adds a complication to my setup. Having IP compatibility,  would allows more automation, as one can write code to control things.

Does anyone know the answer to my original question?

Re: IP Cable Box

IP boxes are used with Flex.

Re: IP Cable Box

RobertY,

Thank you for your reply.

Interesting. I think that's the same box I have - an XG1v4.

It has a port, but IP is not enabled. Presumably then, with FLEX, it is enabled.

Something to explore.

Thanks again.
