Different Menu and Graphics on X1 systems

Yesterday I was helping a relative to install a new TV on their X1 box.  I have Comcast in Howard County, Maryland and they live in Frederick County, Maryland.  The menus and graphics on the Frederick County system are not the same as on my system.  The Frederick County system graphics are much more primative than mine.  The menu items are different.  I wanted to configure the "auto tune" feature for "high definition" on their system, but the preference was not there.  They have to select all their high definitions channels by knowing the correct channel number.  They have a new X1 box that they got from Comcast last summer.  Why the differences?  Can the system be updated?
