Dialogue cutting out on DVR recordings using audio receiver

This week, while watching DVR recordings using an audio receiver connected to the TV, the dialogue portion of the audio has been cutting out while background (music, etc.) is still audible. It doesn't happen with live TV, so I feel like it must have to do with the DVR box. Sometimes it just goes to a very low volume, and other times it's completely inaudible. Any idea why this is happening?

is your set top box connected via HMDI directly to the TV's HMI1 or HDMI2 port? ARC out of TV goes to the receiver?

The cable box is connected to the audio receiver, which is then connected to the TV. The receiver has to be turned on in order for the TV to receive the cable signal.

Today it's happening with live TV as well as the DVR, but not on all channels. I was originally thinking it may be a setting in the receiver, but if that were the case, it should be happening regardless of what channel the TV is on.

you may have a wire loose or speaker problem with the center (usually dialogue) speaker. you would not notice it on many channels depending on how the audio was 'produced' (channels)/mix.
