4K X1 secondary TV box
I researched the possibility of switching to a 4k X1 box a while back. At that time a satellite/secondary 4K box for a 2nd TV only worked wirelessly and was said to only work with an XFINITY branded WiFi router/gateway. I purchased the exact modem for my internet service that was a model designed to specifically work with Comcast service but is not XFINITY branded and my ORBI mesh router and satellites are also not XFINITY branded. Is it still the case that the satellite/secondary 4K X1 boxes are only compatible with Xfinity branded WiFi routers? Would the new 4K X1 box work with the old X1 non 4K secondary box on my bedroom TV?

adding.... the gateway can't be in bridge mode based on other posts either. X1 hubs (XG1 DVR and XG2 companion) communicate with the xi3/xiD/xi5 (non 4k) and xi6 (4k). the xi5/xi6 are wireless and must have access to the hub via MoCA (over cable) or MoCA-over-ethernet (wired ethernet or wireless). the Xi5/Xi6 can be wired to the special Xfinity gateway via ethernet. Some areas of the country have a very nice offer(s) where you do pay for Xfi service but get a gateway for no extra charge and some offers include unlimited 300+ service for no extra charge or a few dollars extra charge ($50/month without the offer). The xb6/7 are the latest DOCSIS 3.0/3.1 and the payback for not buying but renting seems right economically since DOCSIS 4.0 tech is already approved and probably coming soon. I've always had my own gateway but when the unlimited at a lower price and no extra gateway charge with xfi becomes available here I'll go for it too. I have blast 200 and the plan that I've read about is minimum blast 300 to get the unlimited and xfi package including the gateway.
