Error Code 17
On Friday, July 24th, I attempted to turn on On Demand but instead got an error code CL 17. I followed instructions to disconnect the box for a minute and try again, but no luck. So I contacted Xfinity Support and they attempted to fix it with signals and have me disconnect and reconnect things again. No luck. So they sent a technician Monday, July 27th, who replace the DVR and said it was fixed but I need to wait a couple hours for things to reinstall. Nope, hours later still got the error code 17. Contacted Support again and again they tried signals, etc. without luck, so said they were going to have the next level of support get in touch with me within the hour as well as give me a credit for the inconvenience. But no one called me. Not sure if I got the credit either. I got back to Support the next day and was told it could take from an hour to 5 days before I hear from anyone. But they would put it on priority and get back to me promptly. Tomorrow is 5 days and still no word from anyone.
If that wasn’t bad enough, I also have been having problems with the captioning of primetime TV for station KPIX on their HD channel 705. Captions would appear and every once in a while instead of seeing captions I would get a blank black captioning background bar, thereby missing a line or two of captioning. It does not happen on their analog channel 5 nor do I have the problem with other stations. Even the commercials at times will have the problem. Contacted Support about it around July 20th and they said they would contact the station about it. As of the 28th it was still a problem so I decided to also do a direct contact with the station and advise them of the issue. No response from anyone as of yet and the issue continues nightly.
Maybe after being with Comcast close to 40 years it may be time to switch to AT&T. Does anyone else have these problems and get them fixed? I notice there are several complaints on the Internet about the CL 17 but no solutions mentioned.

Finally reached the next level of Xfinity Support and they suggested I replace my DVR with an X1 box. Picked one up at their nearby store only to find it wouldn't activate. Tech came out next day and said I had a bad box, replaced with another newer X1 and finally everything it working, including On Demand. Took me 2 weeks, 9 phone calls, one trip to the Xfinity store, and 2 technicans to come out and about 14 hours of my time to finally fix it.
