Have 3 email acts. Just noticed port 143 incoming? on main email??
I use comcast through Mac mail have done so for ages... Its imap. incoming server port is 993. outgoing server port 465. Except on my main email I see incoming port is 143?? Shouldnt it be 993? Plus do I need to have checked automatically check settings.... I have noticed when I send emails it goes to drafts sit sthere a while then is sent... So thats how I found this incoming server port setting different from my other emails settings??? . I use a iphone and only get my main email on the iphone. But my main email has incoming port setting 143. on my imac.. Shouldnt it be 993? outgoing is 465! I was looking at settings to see why so slow to send,,, Thats how I found this out.. have searched everywhere... should i change the port??

See if this explains it for you--------------

Bsically it depends on what you have set for the security. SSL/TLS uses 993. I have 4 Comcast accounts configured in Mac Mail right now and one uses 143, while the others all use 993.

Also Should automatically manage settings be checked? I have noticed when sending emails it goes to the out box then seconds go by...then it sends??? Just want to use correct settings...... I leave mine set on automatic. If you uncheck it you will be able to change the port. Go ahead and try 993 if you like and see if it works for you.

I have read slow sending issues via comcast but no answers...
