Email Scams ABOUT Xfinity

If I had a tail, it would be like chasing it. Whenever I get an obvious fake email about a business like a bank, I can send it to abuse@bank-x.com.  However, when I get one from "Xfinity", I try to find where to send it and get the whole dialogue about if it's from a comcast.net account. Example today I received an Account Activity Alert stating:

We Have Detected Unknown Login Activity With Your Comcast Account.

Login Incident Details: Eastern Belarus( IP Address : 12.90.99.56 )

If this Was NOT You Please Call Comcast Prevention & Security Team at 1-833-235-4853, which is not Comcast but instead the"Windows Support group that calls regularly, they are not a Microsoft entity either.  If Xfinity/comcast doesn't care who uses their name or logo, I guess I shouldn't either?

The Abuse reporting site is easily found on the Xfinity web site letting you know how and where to forward the email:

https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse/

also you can learn how to verify whether an email is from Comcast/Xfinity at:

https://customer.xfinity.com/help-and-support/internet/comcast-verified-email/

If you get a phishing email or a suspicous email, calling a number listed only opens you up to unwanted spam phone calls or worse.

Re: Email Scams ABOUT Xfinity

In the last couple of days I have received phishing emails from "xFinity" and xFiniTy (really). Why can Comcast catch people using Comcast and sFinity for phishing to protect their own reputation. I get tired for forwarding them to Comcast when I get no reponse or better screening.

I just got one.  One would think that they would at least try a Comcast address instead of a Gmail address.  Not too smart of them

It isn't apathy, if they could filter and block these reliably, they would.

Re: Email Scams ABOUT Xfinity

You are absolutely correct!  At one time Cox tried to block spam and found their blocking AI was too aggressive, people ended up losing valuable emails.

This becomes an issue of  "Do I want them to take control of my inbox, or am I smart enough to realize something isn't a valid email?"  Personally *I* would prefer to do it myself
