Email Inbox
About 1 hour ago, I noticed that my Inbox is only showing 4 emails. I refreshed the Inbox, but none of my emails are showing back up. There should be about 8 years worth. Did something happen with Xfinity that I should know about?

The engineers ran a recovery for your email to see if anything re-appears. Let us know if the emails came back or not.

I am happy to have received a communication from Xfinity that the engineers ran a recovery on my email account. However, after the engineers ran a recovery, I am still missing 4 years worth of emails (2017-2020). I need to know what happened, so that I can better protect myself moving forward. Was this a hack? Was this a glitch in Xfinity email service? All that I know at this point is that I am missing hundreds of important email, and I did not delete them.

@bls2 engineers confirmed that a third-party email client (iPad mail, iPhone mail, Outlook, MacMail, Thunderbird, etc.) processed all emails for deletion. This is likely due to a misconfiguration that happened on the device linked with the email address. Unfortunately, Comcast would be unable to recommend best steps to take to prevent it from happening again as it was caused by something outside of Comcast.
