Comcast email account flagged as spam

I am not receiving any email, nor are any of my emails being received.  If I send an email to myself, it goes directly to my Spam folder.  I assume that my account has been flagged as Spam which is pretty darn irritating.  How do I fix this?  I've cleared my cache, cookies and browser - made no difference.  Anyone else had this issue?

Re: Comcast email account flagged as spam

Go into your settings and see if there is a filter sert up to send incoming emails to the Spam folder.  If so, the account has been compromised and you need to change your password right away.  Then run a scan of your system with your A/V software to see if it finds anything.

Re: Comcast email account flagged as spam

Actually, on a call to Comcast, they had me change the setting to Override Security Filters.  I am now receiving email but no recipients are receiving my email.  I was supposed to get a call back from the Comcast Advanced Repair Team yesterday.  That didn't happen.  Any community advice on why I am not able to Send emails would be appreciated.  I am seeing them in my Sent folder.  I have asked my "test" recipients to check their Spam folders for anything from me.  Nothing there.

Re: Comcast email account flagged as spam

So this saga continues.  I did look through another thread here with users having the same issue; however, most of them are usuing Outlook.  I am accessing my Comcast email through Xfinity.com.  I have spent hours on the phone with Comcast - it's not been elevated to whatever is beyond Tier 2.  If I go to someone elses laptop and sign into my Comcast email, I can both send and receive.  From this and the other laptop I have at this location, I can receive only.  No Sent email arrives at the recipient's address - regardless of whether they have a comcast address, Yahoo, Hotmail, gmail or AOL (AOL?). One of the many people I spoke to bascially told me "you're email is working" and sent me on down the line to someone else.  I'm not savvy enouigh to try and experiment with fussing with server addresses - I'm sure I'd end up messing something up.

Can you clarify-------if you sign into the account with someone else's computer from the same wi-fi network or location you can send and receive OK?  Is this happening at your home or somewhere else?

Re: Comcast email account flagged as spam

So I signed into my Comcast account on someone else's laptop at a different location.  All functions worked fine.  If I log into my own laptop at my home, none of my emails are received by the folks I send them to.  As a test...of something...I opened an Outlook email account on the laptop that has the issues and test sent emails.  They went through fine and were received.  I am not techno-savvy but that seems to say to me that the issue is with my Comcast email address and not with my laptop or, as one of the Comcast reps suggested, with everyone single person I sent an email to.

Re: Comcast email account flagged as spam

Hi,

You may have seen my posts; I have the same issue and it's been going on at least a month. I contacted Comcast on August 14 and have spent countless totally frustrating hours on the phone with them. They say it's being worked on at the Advance Repair level, but I never hear from them and my recipients still do not get email I send using Comcast.

I finally opened a gmail account so I can send mail that gets received and that works fine. So yes, it's Comcast and they can't fix it.

I've been a Comcast customer since 2001 and it would be a pain to change it now. So I have changed my focus to getting compensated for the lost service. To do this, call the main number and when the robot asks what you want say "cancel service" or "downgrade service." You will have a much shorter wait and will get a nice person with a clear connection who speaks very well. I did this yesterday and got to speak with a supervisor who, after hearing my story of Comcast incompetence, reduced my current bill by half. I may have to call these people every month to have this done, but it beats having to speak to those who are failing to fix the problem. Good luck!

Don't expect that compensation to last forever, or even beyond the one time.  Email isn't a "line item" so you're not paying for it; it's considered a freebie and Comcast could decide to pull it at any time.  My primary email address is with Gmail, which is much more reliable [sad to say].  Comcast could have a robust stable email service if it was something they wanted to concentrate on, but unfortunately it's not.

At any rate, I just wanted to warn you to not get your expectations up for having your bill reduced by half every month, so if you call in again and they say it was just a one time courtesy don't get too upset.

Re: Comcast email account flagged as spam

Thanks. You're probably right. The "customer retention" people were pretty nice and did encourage me to call next billing cycle if the issue isn't resolved, which I'm pretty sure it won't be.  So I'll see how it goes. Gmail is working well for me as I learn the million options it seems to have.

Cheers

Re: Comcast email account flagged as spam

So suddenly recipients have started to receive my email.  I don't know what changed.  If Comcast performed some miracle, they sure didn't call and tell me.  As a precaution, I set up an Outlook account which, may I add, performed as it should from the getgo.  Thanks to the replies...and for those experiencing the frustration of the Comcast phone and call back system, my heart goes out to you.

Re: Comcast email account flagged as spam

Thanks for the update, and I'm glad to hear your problem seems to be solved! Comcast emails sent from my desktop computer still do not reach recipients. If I send from my iphone, they seem to get through ok, which is the way it's been from the start.  I'm still using gmail to send stuff.

I have the same problem and can’t get it resolved. Wonder if I don’t start a new email address and go from there?

Re: Comcast email account flagged as spam

You could try that. For me, it just seemed easier to open a gmail account. As far as I can tell, I am still receiving mail in my Comcast account, so I just left it for now. I will probably gradually switch most of my important business, etc. contacts to gmail. '

Again, the only people I've gotten any consideration from are the customer retention people. Just tell the comcast phone robot you want to cancel or downgrade your service. Then you get a nice, live person and you can ask them to give you a credit on your bill, which they did immediately for me. And I will call them every month for another credit if the mail still isn't fixed. One of the other people on this forum said they probably won't do it every month, but that isn't what the supervisor I spoke with indicated, so I'll be calling them monthly.

Re: Comcast email account flagged as spam

I appear to have spoken too soon.  The same problem has reoccured - no one receiving my emails from my Comcast account.  I did set up an Outlook account so I at least have that back up.  I don't yet have the intestinal fortitude to another round of days and days with the Comcast help desk.  I'm hoping at some point, it simply corrects itself since I have little to no confidence that Comcast truly has any interest in trying to fix it.
