Unsolicited phone call to update or upgrade

Yesterday I received a phone call from somebody claiming to be from Comcast/Xfinity. He stated that our TVs were outdated (they're not) and we needed to upgrade or update our service. It would cost $130 which would be refunded over the course of six months. It all sounded fishy and I declined the offer. I'm not sure what the end game was.

We  switched to Comcast/Xfinity awhile ago and have had no problems whatsoever. Has anybody else received a call like this?

Re: Unsolicited phone call to update or upgrade

Hi, kschurin68! We're happy to have you here in the community, thanks for posting! Unfortunately, yes, what you experienced is something that is pretty common when it comes to phone service regardless of the carrier. Sometimes the caller is who they say they are and sometimes they're not. It's not always easy to tell. We understand it can be unsettling, which is why we have some things in place to help avoid certain unwanted phone calls. Here is a great link that can be used as a resource: https://comca.st/2TOY3J0. Were you able to check the caller ID and see what phone number the call came from by chance?
