Power Outage Communication

We are 100% Comcast - TV, Internet, Phone, Mobile. So we are dependent upon you for our survival in an emergency. We live in an area prone to wildfires so if we can’t make or receive calls we are at great risk! We just had 2 days of no power - we have a generator but that doesn’t really help our ability to get or receive communications. What can you do to help people like us during these critical times?

Re: Power Outage Communication

Not much since Comcast isn’t the electric company and uses commercial power just like you do and generators just like you do

Re: Power Outage Communication

Why couldn’t Comcast use a backup - like a GMRS system / or a AM or FM radio channel to communicate to customers when their cable network is out of commission? The technology is plentiful already out there it just needs to be further developed. There are lives at stake here - your Customer’s lives!

Re: Power Outage Communication

Comcast is a profitable company - you could charge a little extra for this type of Emergency communication option to customers that want and need it. The whole state of California is in a Fire Risk zone - 40 million people who could benefit from this. You would be heroes! And add to your profits as well. A Win/Win situation!

Thank you for posting your questions here in the Xfinity Forum. As CCAndrew pointed out, unfortunately when your power is out there is not much we can do to help. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

With your Comcast cellular phones, you can always check the status of your account via Xfinity My Account. There you will be able to see if your account is currently in an outage or if anything could be impacting your services. You can also watch local news programs on your Comcast cellular phone via the Xfinity Stream website or app for the latest communications in your area.  Additionally, after doing a quick Google search there does appear to be multiple different ways you can receive AM/FM radio programming via your cellular phone.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
