Re: DISAPPOINTED IN COMCAST

Next move would be to address it with your state legislator.  Legislators often become involved in "casework," which is assisting heir constituents with matters involving state agencies.  Your ineffective regulatory body is a creature of state statutes.  If legislators start asking why they're being ineffective, it carries the implied threat that the enabling legislation could be changed, and can often make the agency take notice.  You also should not be attempting this alone.  They need more than one phone call or email from one angry constituent - they need a flood.  This means using Facebook or other media to find out who in your area is as mad as you are.  In my local area is a Facebook group for people who live in my community (all of which is a Comcast franchise).  Between the Cinemax and TCM moves, we collectively despise Comcast at this point.  Getting people to make noise requires some effort, but it CAN be done.  Comcast is counting on us to just sit and take this abuse.  I don't plan to.

Re: DISAPPOINTED IN COMCAST

Thanks again Pete.  I have lobbied in D.C. and our legislature for reform.  As you know, it is a long, hard road to effect change.  There are bills pending in Congress right now regarding the numerous fees that Comcast and others tack on to monthly bills without adequate identification or justification.  The only thing that is really going to make Comcast take notice is a deep dent in their bottom line.  Best regards.

In one month, if Management refuses to come to their senses and restore TCM  to basic cable with no increase in price, I’m buying a Hulu- or Sling- compatible TV for a couple of hundred dollars to download Hulu or Sling for TV.   Frontier will be my new internet provider..   I’ll save $1,200 a year.

This reminds me of the hubris exhibited by Enron at the beginning before they entered the meltdown stage.  The violations may be different but both grew out of the same cause.  Enron had contempt for their investors;  Xfinity has contempt for their customers.

What happened to Turner Classic Movie channel?

Loss of TCM is the end of my relationship with Comcast/Xfinity

We have endured rate increase and channels being moved to "premium" for additional monthly fees. until our monthly bill is nearly $200.  Now the loss of TCM is the end for us.  We will be moving to a different provider - this is simply unacceptable.   Comcast/Xfinity makes it very difficult to be a loyal customer - we have been with them for 30 years.

Removal of TCM from my channel lineup

Thank you Comcast for once again being the worst TV provider.  Why would you include TCM in a sports package!

TMC Complaints Blocked

I find it interesting that Xfinity has locked out additional comments of the move of Turner Classic Movie channel to a sports package. A cursory review of the list comments seem to show a majority disapproval of the move. I would be willing to pay for the TCM channel on its own, but why would I want a number of sports channels I will not watch? This is a common complaint amongst cable customers and is yet another example of a poor business model that promotes no customer loyality and bias for bottom lining it over customer satisfaction.

Removal of TCM - BIG Mistake - I guess my Premier Package isn't that "Premier"...

I'm sure like many customers, I found out this morning that TCM is no longer included with my package.  Like most people my bill goes directly to my credit card and since I have made a 2 year commitment, I really have no reaon to check my bill.  Your statements that the average Comcast customer watched only 2 films per month is a stretch.  I can tell you I watch infinitely less sports.

You know, I can save you some REAL money.  Just stop paying the sports franchise fees as see how fast your costs come down.  Make the people who want sports pay full freight.  Go to ala carte pricing, or lose your customers to cord-cutting.  Or just bring back the one channel that doesn't have anything to do with sports.  Good luck, you'll need it.

Why is Comcast adding TCM to a sports package and making us buy an addtional subscription?

TCM is the only channel I watch and now you have taken it away. Do you really expect customers to cough up even more money? Whatever happened to the new Xfinity that was going to replace the disastrous Comcast, the most hated company in America?  This will be another nail in the coffin for cable TV.

Turner Classic Movies

One of the only channels I watch consistently of the 260 I have access is Turner Classic Movies.  Today, I turn to TCM only to discover it is now a subscription chanel buried in a sports package.  So, let me understand this logic.  To get TCM I need to add a sports package that I will never use or care to use and increase the number of channels I have access and my bill by $9+.  How about this?  I will gladly unsubscribe to 150-200 channels to get Turner Classic Movies back in my lineup of channels.  My next step is to speak with one of your agents to begin exploring how I can accomplish turning off 100's of channels to get the sports package that includes TCM.  Based on post experience with Comcast I anticipate I will be told that that turning off 100's of channels is either not possible or will break the seal on my triple play package and therefore cannot be accomplished unless I increase my monthly price by "x" amount.  Thanks for nothing Comcast!!!  My disappointment in your service grows daily.  I trust you understand that your service moves are opening the door to competition.  Of course there is a Comcast team or consultant who did the analytics that showed your loss will be minimal for moving TCM to a subscription.  I suggest to my fellow TCM watchers that we flood Comcast with phone calls, letters, emails, tweets, etc. demanding that TCM be returned to the normal lineup.  To have the most impact I suggest you send these leters and emails to senior management and the Comcast Board.  My last comment/question is do I understand correctly that the Community Forum is going away on December 16th?  If that is true it speaks loudly and clearly to the the fact that Comcast does not give a rats bum about its subscribers and their likes, dislikes and opinions BUT loves our monthly subscription dollars.  Cha-ching for Comcast. Too bad, so sad for your subscribers.

Re: TMC Complaints Blocked

  • They are not the most reviled company in America for no reason.  They could not be more obvious that they are a money grubbing company which will do anything to get more money from their customers.  TCM does not belong in a sports package.  Obviously, they want to sell more sports packages and have drummed up this cheating way to stiff its customers,  All you have to do is pay $9.99 more a month to watch one channel.  As stated, they are a reviled company which wants money more than customer service.  Yes, it is interesting they locked complaints about the TCM switch, because they knew customers would revolt and did not care to worry their little worm heads with customer service issues.  Write to TCM and tell them they have lost viewers, because of Comcast.

What do you do, see what people watch the most and then add those channels to premium packages so yoiu can make more money?  Does Mr. Tom, your president know how corrupt his company really is?  Time to find a new provider!

I’m with you. This effort to shut customers up smacks of the behavior of a totalitarian regime, not a service provider dealing with those whose monthly payments keep them afloat. In addition to dealing with state regulators we need to start communicating with the stock market analysts who follow Comcast and see if there’s a way to make this outrageous behavior affect their share price.

Re: THOUSANDS WANT TURNER CLASSIC MOVIE CHANNEL LEFT ALONE AND NOT SWITCHED TO SPORTS PACKAGE

It's clear that TCM is being moved in an effort to charge customers more by forcing them to get the sports entertainment package.  I completely understand that costs rise over time but this is just a blantent rip off.  Why should I pay another $10 a month to get back a channel I had and add channels I don't want and will never watch    I'm in an area where Comcast is a monopoly, I have few options.  I try to see the opportunity in every obstacle, I think the universe is telling me I watch to much tv and it's time to cut the cord.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet but I know what I won't be doing.  I'm not adding another package and increasing an already bloated charge for Comcast

Re: tcm

Very disappointed that TCM has been moved from basic tier to a more expensive tier that includes a sports package.  Makes no sense to inculde TCM with sports.  Family members enjoy the programming on TCM and usually can't get those movies anywhere else.  Whoever made that decision to move  TCM and charge more does not know the auidence that watches TCM.  In NO world should TCM be with a sport packge!!! Make the change back to including TCM with basic cable tier!

Tcm

Comcast has a lot of nerve adding TCM to the sports package. My 95 year old aunt watches the old movies all of the time and now she has to add the sports package? Such logic. Just for the sake of taking more of her money. And when you call Comcast they say no one watches TCM.  I live in a retirement community and, believe me, older people watch the old movies. Good way to screw seniors, Comcast. You should be ashamed. And if no one watches it, just keep it where it was. Are you losing money or do you just want to make more? No need to answer. And you are without competition where I live. Another yacht for the CEO?

TCM Moving to Sports Package

I am thoroughly disappointed with Comcast once again.  Moving TCM to a sports package will probably be the last straw for me.  I've read some of their explanations for the move however we all know it's just another way to increase revenue.  It's time to start looking in earnest for a change in providers.  There are enough options out there now to be competitive.

I've been a Comcast customer for 10+ years and subscribe to bundled services with them.  I really enjoy TCM but am not a big sports fan.  Therefore this switch makes no sense for me.  So I guess it's time to put my money where my mouth is and find a provider who might care a little more about their customers.

Yesterday I was shocked to find out that my favorite channel TCM was removed — without any notice — from my contracted Xfinity plan!! How can you do this? Can someone please explain to me how Xfinity can change my channel lineup without letting me know and instead offer a paid package as a replacement? I have been committed to 3 years of my existing channel lineup and gladly accept that. What gives Xfinity the right to change my 3-year contract — without any notice — and expect me to pay? I want to know from Xfinity how they plan to make this right for existing users who are under contract for 3 years with a channel lineup contract.

TCM moving to sports — what's the justification for this?

So TCM is now part of the premium sports subscription package.  Sorry, but I'm struggling to understand how that's a "good* fit at all given that the two have absolutely nothing in common.  I'm wondering if perhaps that particular sports package is losing subscribers, and so TCM got moved over to try to pump up the revenue a bit.  Until TCM goes back to being part of my premium digital package, I'll be watching it through other means and not by paying extra for a sports channel I'll never otherwise use.

TCM Gone, Xfinity Next in line

This is a quote from the "Letter From Tim:"

"Hello, I'm Tom Karinshak, Executive Vice President, Customer Service at Comcast. As a Comcast customer, you are priority number one. "

Apparently we've been demoted to priority number two, or lower. Why in the world would you move TCM to a subscriber based package, and put it with sports, of all things? This is going to rank up there in the top ten of the most ludicrous things you've ever done. Not that you'll care, but you'll be shedding subscribers, including this one at some point. I'm came to Xfinity from AT&T Uverse and purchased my current package specifically so we could have TCM. Now, I have to pay another $10 month. Oh, it's okay to have a zillion home shopping channels, no problem there.

Please remove or revise that letter from Tim Karinshak...it's very misleading.

Re: WHY IS COMCAST CHANGING TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES TO SPORTS PACKAGE IN OCTOBER?

TCM being moved to force retired people on fixed incomes to have to pay more if they want to continue to view the channel.  This is the second channel that has been removed within the last few months.  Are you going to lower my rate accordingly.  I don't watch sports, never have and the sports channels are the most expensive channels for customers that we have to pay for even though many don't watch these channels.  You are forcing people on fixed incomes to have to look for other option that fit their fixed income budget.  I am locked into a package that I can not remove for another 10 months, once that has expired, I will be saying good bye to Comcast.  You are no longer customer friendly or caring for those that have been with you for many years.

TCM GONE COMCAST TOO

I pay $260 per month for this stupid package, and rarely watch the movie channels but I watch TCM all the time, or did.  Bundling with the sports package?  Seriously?  I am not interested in any of the sports channels, or the numerous spanish channels I have to scroll through.  The internet is faulty half the time, and I avoid customer service because trying to fix one thing screws up something else.  Time to look at ATT now as many of my neighbors have.

Re: WHY IS COMCAST CHANGING TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES TO SPORTS PACKAGE IN OCTOBER?

I don't believe this for one moment. If what you say is true, it's not going to hurt your bottom line to make TCM. It would be nice if you posted these surveys to prove the point. It's probably more true that viewers enjoy TCM more than "twice a month" and this is an opportunity to squeeze a little bit more out of your subscribers. One of the reasons I switched from Uverse to Xfinity was the continual creeping rise in costs. Now you're doing it, disguised as "helping our subscribers."

Obviously you've weighed the effects and believe the people you lose won't hurt you too much. But this is more than that. Just read the comments and you'll see how passionate your customers, whom you profess to care about, love this channel but are unwilling to have to put up with more sports channels just to get it. We already have to put up with mulitiple shopping channels!

what were you thinking Comcast re: TCM Removal

I want to express my anger and bewilderment for the move of TMC to a “sports package”.  You are already charging me some sports fee for programs I don’t watch, now you have taken away one of the 12 channels I watch regularly and want me to add more sports channels for additional cost so I can get my channel back. If you were looking to give me a reason to ‘ cut the cord’, you succeeded.

Shopping for a new provider starting today...

and seriously, what do TMC viewers have in common with the demographic that wants those sports channels - seriously just a money grab for people to pay for channels they don’t want - bad idea Comcast.

Shame on Comcast for removing TCM from extended package. It has been included since the inception of cable and I watch it daily. I refuse to pay on demand to rent movies that have been released (free ) for a month then Comcast restarts the buy or rent gimmick. So I surely am not going to extra pay for TCM! It’s becoming clearer that I should drop cable.
