Multiple channels down with onscreen message

For us, both Fox News and HGTV are unavailable. Here is the error message we got for both:

"Please try again. We're having some trouble on our end. This channel isn't currently available. Please try tuning away from this channel for a few seconds and then tune back to it. If that doesn't' work, please try again in a few minutes."

This has been at least 3 hours and neither channel works.
The guide is also very slow and sometimes freezes.

You have a signal issue problem, you’ll probably need a tech out. Make sure your cables are tight and in good repair and remove any extra unnecessary splitters. Channels come in on different frequencies, something is impeding the frequency of those channels and possibly others you don’t have or watch

I have been having the same problem with the same error message for 2 months. Replaced the box. Didn’t work. Contacted xfinity by phone and went through the refresh, reboot process. That did not fix the issue. Went to the xfinity store a 2nd time and was told a tech could be sent out at a cost of 70.00!! You would think since the error message reads “we are having a problem on our end” xfinity would send a tech to fix the issue without charging the customer.

“On our end” means anywhere between the box and the pedestal outside, you’re only charged if it’s something fixed inside your house. The advice above is to help eliminate something happening inside. Try it
