Your channel lineup will depend on your location/zip code. You should be able to get a channel list on the MyXfinity.com web site. Is it possible you have filters turned on that are showing only SD, only HD, Out-of-home or some other restrictive list? Have you tried using the Search button to have it look for HBO for you?
When I put 1802 into the remote the TV jumps to 1995 and the screen says that other set-top boxes in my home may need to be updated. No HBO.

What type of cable box are you using? The fact that it doesn't seem to have the national numbers seems to imply it's not a full box but may be a small DTA? Or you are in a rare area that hasn't implemented it yet.
In Fremont, HBO HD should be on 801, and HBO SD should be on 551 (or 550 for the "eastern feed" where everything is on three hours earlier)

I can't say for sure without a model number, but that looks like a "TV Adapter". Adapters can't tune premium channels like HBO. You'd need to replace it with what they are now calling a "TV box". See https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/difference-between-cable-box-and-digital-adapter. You can swap it at a Service Center or Xfinity Store if one is nearby (check locations and hours at https://www.xfinity.com/support/service-center-locations/), or, for a fee, have Comcast swap it out for you.
That looks like an HD DTA. DTA's are basic boxes and do not support premium channels or OnDemand. In this picture, note the 'uDTA-P' in the lower-right corner.

I believe my question is answered. Not sure if I'll decided to go through the hassle of replacing hardware / wiring / remotes or just abandon the extra channel.
Gert, you might check with customer service at 800-COMCAST or 800-XFINITY about replacing your ‘TV Box’. There may be little or no hassle and maybe no charge to replace it, depending on your TV package. HBO might not be the only thing you’re missing out on.
