Re: Accessible Remote for Customer with Alzheimer's

Wondering if anyone has found a solution,  or if Xfinity is paying attention and addressing this need.

My mother-in-law watches 4 channels.  And they are not adjacent on the remote. She is having an awful time with the Xfinity X1 remote control and we live an hour away and cannot pop in to address the issues.

A generic remote that one could program with the 4 channels, the volume up and down, and the power is what she needs. There is one out there but the reviews all say it does not work with Xfinity X1.

Should we replace the modem/or set top box so it will work with a simple remote like I described.

I would think that Xfinity would welcome the opportunity to help it's senior customers.

If you can’t find a remote or down grade to simple equipment, set her up a favorites list and default her guide to favorites.

Re: Accessible Remote for Customer with Alzheimer's

Thanks for the response. Makes sense,

But, we need a simple remote, REAL SIMPLE REMOTE.  Having her hands on a remote with 30 buttons is a recipe for confusion.

Can I ask Xfinity for a downgraded set top box??

Is there a number to call??

I’ve escalated it up to an Official Employee but if you end up with a DTA, try the pictured remote. They aren’t used/made anymore maybe ebay?

Re: Accessible Remote for Customer with Alzheimer's

Good afternoon, pahchester. Thank you for posting here in the Community. 🙂

Yes! We should have an alternate option for your mother-in-law that is much more simplified. We have basic adapter boxes that have minimal functions to keep track of. They are what we call Legacy boxes (older and not on X1 Platform)and they supply just simple/basic live TV. You can find out more about them here: https://comca.st/38oD1cQ. The remote that comes with it should be the one listed at the bottom righthand corner of the page here: https://comca.st/3ePkPuc. Let me know what other questions you have!
