Xfinity wifi hotspot not turning off

I recently discovered that the xifinitywifi SSID is now being broadcast from my modem again. This was turned off months ago and now has been enabled again. I confirmed that it wasn't another house in my area by unplugging my modem and watching the hotspot disappear.

I have tried the APP, the Browser and the URL https://customer.xfinity.com/#/settings/security/hotspot

The app and the browser say "lets try that again" and I can never get to the hotspot section. The URL says that they couldn't access the data and to try again later. How in the world am I supposed to turn this off if every option to do so results in failure?

I'm going to escalate your issue to the Comcast corporate employees that are available to these boards. You should get a reply here in your topic. Good luck !

Hello and Happy Tuesday, ! I hope you’re having a great start to the week! I also appreciate you taking a moment out of your day to reach out to us on our Community Forums! You’ve reached the best place and perfect person to help with virtually all of your account needs!

Going forward, I'm truly sorry to hear about the Xfinity Hotspot network still appearing on your home modem as I know network situations like this can be frustrating to say the least! I'd now like to take a closer look on the backend and see what tools we have to help disable this feature.

To get the ball rolling on this process, please send us a private chat message by selecting the “chat” icon on the top right side of our page and then using our singular Xfinity Support handle (not an agent name) to get started. Once you have started a chat message, please provide your name and service address as it appears on your monthly billing statements. Thanks again for both your time and patience!

Thank you, @Scrigface for working with us on this issue, and for your patience! I'm so happy we were able to get this resolved, and turn off the broadcasting of the Xfinity WiFi hotspot from your Gateway due to a possible communication issue. Please reach back out if you need anything else!

So, what's the resolution? It's obvious that many are having the same problem. In my case, my Account Settings show that the public hotspot is disabled, but it's still here and the admin interface on the router itself confirms it.

Thanks for reaching out @Captive_not_loyal. I'd be happy to help look into this for you. We may have to submit a ticket to our backend team for you. Can you send me a PM with your name and address?

To send a private message, please click on the chat icon on the top right next to the bell. Please make sure to send the message to our singular handle "Xfinity Support" and we will get back to you ASAP.

I no longer work for Comcast.

@XfinityKorie Hi someone or some how Xfinity keeps turning on a hotspot under my account. I have several chat tickets about the issue. i also noticed that besides turning on the hotspot even thought on the website it says disabled, my bridge mode keeps getting disabled. I have my own router I use so this issue has been an eye sore since April when I called in and spoke to 2 reps via the phone support line. I am ready to stop using Xfinity if this isn't fixed like yesterday!!
