Xfinity manipulating customer data usage to increase unlimited data customers
I've been monitoring my data usage since xfinity reported that I went over my 1229 data cap in June. In 7 years I've NEVER utilized more than 800gb ofv data per month. All of the sudden with no new devices or users added to my system I'm at 998gb in May then 1286gb in June, and currently xfinity shows that I'm using 40gb a day when nothing in my home could possibly utilize that much data.
After reviewing the customer complaints within the past 2 years, Im convinced xfinity is misreporting customers data usage to justify their unlimited data program that no one needs.

Meh. I got two plus years of firewall logs that says otherwise. Believe me, if that were not the case I'd tell you about it and I'm not a fan of Xfinity hardware. Actually, with the rounding and cutoff times, Xfinity actually reports a bit short of what I actually KNOW I used every month.
What you can't see if you use Xfinity equipment and a lot of 3rd party gateways is the breakdown on what every device used, when it used it, or the physical hardware layer. You also can do any throttling of devices/equipment that IS using data, like streaming devices. Bandwidth app settings on those may or may not work, and your settings could change on an app update. There is also plenty of other ways for computers/devices/programs/office applications/updates to get wrapped around the axle, and with a high speed connection, and a 40GB/day average is pretty easy to exceed. You might even be able to blow a 1.2T bandwidth cap in a day or two.
