XB7 XFiPods and 802.11ax

I have a XB7 Gateway and a couple of gen 2 PODs and was wondering if this combination supports the 802.11ax WiFi protocol?  Looking at bring a few WiFi 6 capable devices online soon.  Tried to change it with the gateway admin but it’s managed automagically now due to the Pods.  Any FAQs or doc would be helpful.  Thanks

Hi there! This is a great question! As a third-generation gateway, the XB7 does supports dual-band 802.11ax (WiFi 6). So, you should not have a problem using your new devices! We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns!

@ComcastAirelle thanks for the reply.  Will the XB7 automagically reconfigure the WiFi 5 GHz mode to support 802.11ax?  As of now, the mode is set to 802.11a/n/ac and I cannot change it manually due to various settings being managed automatically.  Also, since you asked, when will support for Security mode WPA3 be available?  And have the issues with HomeKit devices losing connections periodically been addressed as I am pretty deep in the Apple ecosystem.

thanks,

Dan

FWIW, I do know that the XB7 supports 802.11ax / WiFi 6, but I'm not certain that the Xfinity Pods do. @ComcastAirelle Can you confirm or deny please ?

@EG thanks for the reply.  Having the Gen2 Pods, I was hoping that @ComcastAirelle would have mentioned that in the reply as that is my primary concern.

@Lschultz5 @EG Great question! Each xFi Pod is an AC3000 plug-in range extender, so they don't support Wi-Fi 6.

@ComcastAirelle Thanks.  Buyer be ware as I mistakenly thought the did support it.  Guess my research lacked.  What about my follow on questions?  Or is there other threads that answer my questions?

@Lshultz5, at this time the XB7 does not support WPA3. However, this is something that the company is working to provide in the future. Rest assured, you have the right modem for the feature when available. I understand many customers are excited to have the extra security.

As far as your HomeKit disconnecting, is this a problem that just developed recently? How far away are the devices to your gateway? I understand you purchased the pods, was this because you have frequent drops in connection?

I no longer work for Comcast.
