XB7 Router/Modem locked to 5ghz channel 157 severely limiting speed

So this "new and improved" hardware rental from Comcast has done the brilliant thing of taking away all control from the end user and has me stuck on channel 157 with a 20 mhz wide channel capping me at a small fraction of my 1000 mbps plan.  There are also like 20 people around me on channel 157 as per my wifi analyzer but 0 on channel 155 where I want to be with the 80 mhz width where I can get some of my bandwidth.  Please assist me in changing my wifi to channel 155 or I'll be forced to downgrade my plan from gigabit to 200 mbps to match the pitiful speed I get because I can not control my wifi channel.

I recently replaced some older Xfinity router which I got 900-1000 mbps speeds with (so all my hardware is gigabit ready) this fancy new box that stripped all network control away from me and has crippled my speeds.

Hey @phoenixfire82,

Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Community Forums support page. Please accept my most sincere apology for the experience you have encountered. With xFi, you would be unable to make advance network changes such as specifying a specific wireless channel or frequency band.

If you wish to have access to those types of networking features, I would recommend looking at purchasing your own third-party networking equipment. This could be by turning the modem into bridge mode or purchasing a modem that has the customization features you are looking for to work with your local network. You can find supported equipment that works with your Xfinity Internet by visiting our 'Using Approved Third-Party Equipment for Xfinity Internet and Xfinity Voice' support page.
