xb7 bridge speed reduction

I work in critical infrastructure protection and I am new Xfinity customer that uses a pretty extensive multi wan network set up via a PFsense router and beefy ubiquiti network.  One of those wans is an Xfinity XB7 in bridge mode.  The issue occurring is that while the modem gets close to 1gb when speed testing in default mode, when you put it in bridge mode it only gets maybe 350mbs down.    After several tickets today's tech got someone higher up in their support staff on the phone and he said that when in bridge mode the 1gb port will only output about 10th of the speed.  Is this true?  How can I get around this?  Are there other modem options that would allow me the get my full gig in bridge mode.  I am just trying to find out if this account is going to work for me since I have a few more days to cancel the customer agreement.

The best option would be to replace the XB7 with something that is more appropriate for the scenario you presented.

@NoNoBadPuppy Any suggestions?  My package says I had to use their modem in order to get unlimited data but maybe it's worth trying to go around that requirement.

Hello @MRPHATFRED, thank you for taking the time to reach out to our team through Forums. Have you attempted to tested another router to check if you've noticed an improvement with those speeds?

@XfinityGabby  no, in order to have unlimited data the package offered to me said we had to use the Xfinity equipment.  Can I request a different model?   Or maybe pay for the xfinity modem but not use and BYOD my own modem?

@XfinityGabby also, in case you meant testing another router after the XB7, yes I have tested multiple 1gb routers in default config and I all are showing roughly the same speed.   My other reply was if your were referring to requesting a different modem/router from Xfinity.

@MRPHATFRED AFAIK you can still get unlimited data with third party equipment.  I don't know if pricing varies by market, but it's $30 a month here (Chicago).  Strangely it's less expensive to buy the package for $25/mo that includes the modem rental to get unlimited data.

Hi there @MRPHATFRED! I hope your Saturday is starting well. Did you still need assistance with this concern, or did the previous answers help?

I no longer work for Comcast.

You likely will need an XB8 but they are backordered in most areas.  Don't ask for one right now or you are likely to be shipped another XB7.

You'll probably be asked to open a new thread, but take a look at this thread on DSL reports:
https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32469291-Equip-XB7-Technicolor-CGM4331COM-Arris-TG4482-Wireless-AX-Wi-Fi-6~start=360

WAN/LAN port speed issues when in Bridge mode. Workaround:  Reset Gateway to Factory Defaults. Activate Gateway using xfinity.com/activate. After activation, change gateway password. Then enable Bridge mode. Firmware update will fix this issue, release date not set.

Don't have an XB7 to test, but might be worth a try.
