With new XFi Gateway modem/router, our Brother printer doesn't work anymore
We just got the XFi Gateway modem after using our own modems (on Comcast/ Xfinity internet) for many years (latest was a Netgear Nighthawk CAX30). We've had our Brother DCP-7056DN printer plugged into the modem's ethernet port, and it has always worked on the network (printing from laptops over wifi). Now, with the XFi Gateway, the printer still shows up as a available on our computers, but when we try to print, we get "The printer is not responding" message.
The two ethernet ports we're using in the back of the XFi Gateway are blinking orange irregularly, but the one connecting to our Ooma phone seems to work just fine (we can place and receive calls).
Anyone know what we'd have to do to get our printer working again? Thanks in advance.

I have same problem, although it says the printer is offline. I successfully entered the new Wifi info on the printer which supposedly fixed the connection, but now Brother support instructions online say I need to install new Brother driver software on the computer. I am waiting for an answer to the email I sent to Brother support. This is very frustrating because I couldn't find any way to actually speak with Brother Customer Service.

Have you used your computer to go to the Brother website? Enter your printer model and find the needed software driver to download to your computer.

I appreciate the replies and attempts to help. I'll keep trying. The thing is, the printer worked just minutes before, with my Netgear modem/router, so the drivers shouldn't be the problem (I don't think). I hope you get your printer working, too. If you do, would you mind coming back and sharing what worked for you? Thanks.

Does anyone know if the XFi Gateway allows communication on the network via "Bonjour"? Here's what Brother's help files say:
"Make sure your router allows communication on the network via Bonjour.
"Does the router support Bonjour communication?
"The router may be set to block Bonjour communication. Refer to the support documentation for your router and check the router settings.
If you don’t know whether the router supports Bonjour or the method for changing the settings, contact the router manufacturer."

OK. I tried a lot of things that didn't work, but what did was on my printer's menu, I chose "Network" and then clicked down to "Network Reset," and then resetting everything got the printer printing again. Phew. I hope this can help someone else. It was really quite simple in the end, but not knowing meant a lot of missteps along the way.
