user_i75kyy Hi there! Is the printer not detecting the WiFi in the home at all? Have you tried power cycling both the printer and XER10?

Unfortunately, I did that and the router never reset and I had to get online with Xfinity ap and live person.  We had to completely reset everything with a new network name and password.  I had to the add every device ( tv’s , ring, ghome, sensi thermostats, Alexa, etc) to the new network and password.  Printer still does not work!

Hello fellow XER10 user, I feel like we're a rare group. I can personally confirm that without splitting bands, my printer has been able to connect. Let's try splitting those bands to see if your printer has an easier time latching onto that 2.4 GHz band. If you're unfamiliar with how to do so, just open the Xfinity app>WiFi tab>Edit Wifi settings>Split bands.

Please circle back here to let me know if that helps. 👍

I have tried powering down both devices, multiple times, with no luck.  The Officejet 4620 Series Connectivity Status report shows the printer as discovering my home network.

Just to confirm, does the Wi-Fi network name of the 2.4 GHz band show on the printer? Thanks for trying those steps. I know how frustrating it is when the printer still won’t connect after multiple power cycles. When your Office jet 4620’s Connectivity Status report shows it’s discovering your home network but not fully connecting, it's definitely having trouble completing the WiFi handshake. Here are a few things we covered but want to go over them again to ensure we take the right steps for fixing this model specifically:

1. Check the WiFi band

-The Officejet 4620 can only connect to 2.4 GHz WiFi. It will not work on 5 GHz.

-If your network uses the same name for both bands, the printer may be seeing the wrong one.

-When splitting your WiFi names (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) make sure you select the 2.4 GHz option on the printer setup screen.

2. Check the WiFi password

-This printer is very sensitive. Even one incorrect character will cause it to stop at “Discovering.”

-Try re‑entering the password carefully.

3. Verify router settings

-Make sure these are enabled on your network:

-WPA2 (or WPA/WPA2) security

-2.4 GHz band enabled

-No “MAC filtering” blocking new devices

4. Restart the router (not just the printer)

-A full router reboot can reset the connection table so the printer can join.

-When powering down, unplug the router for 30–45 seconds, plug it back in, then try connecting again.

5. Use WPS

-Press the WPS button on the router

-Go to the printer → Wireless Settings → Wi‑Fi Protected Setup

-Choose Push Button
This can sometimes bypass connection issues.

If none of that works, let us know and we'll walk you through the next options. We’ll get it connected.

I have tried the above, still no connection.  Is there a way to use the “pin” option to try and connect?  I have the printer pin #, but then need to access the router through its’ IP address, I think.

Thanks for confirming that you have tried all the above. Yes, you can connect the Officejet 4620 using the WPS PIN method. Here’s the quick process:

1. Get the PIN from the printer:

  • On the printer go to Setup → Network → Wi‑Fi Protected Setup (WPS) → PIN
  • It will show an 8‑digit PIN

2. Enter the PIN in your router:

  • Open a browser and go to your router’s IP (using 10.0.0.1 like in this link: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/wifi-change-admin-tool)
  • Go to WPS settings
  • Choose PIN or Add device by PIN
  • Enter the 8‑digit number from the printer

The printer should connect within a minute or two. If it doesn’t work, let me know what message you get and we can try the next easy step.

I have logged in, but cannot find WPS.  I have the following selections:  router, connection, firewall, software, hardware, connected devices, parental control, advanced, troubleshooting.  I have opened these but cannot find WPS.
