WiFi Range Problem

I live in a 3 story townhouse and have the Xfinity Gateway on the second floor. I get good signal on the second floor, but on the 1st and 3rd, the signal strength is only good on the area just above and below the gateway. In the other areas, I often experience call drops during meetings, streaming buffer,  and slow download speed. What's the best way to fix this ? I read somewhere that Xfinity provides pods for free in such cases to extend the range. True?

Free?

Maybe you can convince them to do that/or discount two of them on a new install, but your devices have to work with combined signal broadcast -- no more splitting out 2.4G and 5G if you go with pods for printers and IOT gear/cameras.

You'd be better off with a mesh network system and it will handle the access-point to access-point roam hand off a whole lot better.  Construction materials, and distance matter.  So does the WiFi standard you broadcast and the number of devices you need to place for coverage, to get it where you need it.  Most mesh systems are expandable.  If you don't want to string Ethernet cable for access points where you need them, a mesh system is the next more flexible option without drilling holes.

@Kunalm Thank you for reaching out on the Xfinity Community Forums. As mentioned by a community member placement matters and to what is in between the modem and other floors. This can be walls, floors, etc. I would recommend checking out https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/improve-your-wireless-home-network. Xfi complete would perform a Wi-Fi assessment of the home. If you already subscribe to it then one would have been completed once Xfi complete was added.  Please let us know if we can be further assistance.
