Wifi password

I recently switched to prepaid plan. I can't change my wifi password. On app I am getting info that "

WiFi credential settings are currently unavailable

We cannot display your network name and password because your device does not support this feature."

I also tried to do this on admin tool (10.0.0.1). I doesn't work either.

I spoke with multiple agents and technitians. All I am in response is article on 10.0.01 admin tool method.

Why I am not allowed to use basic and most important feature, which is wifi password change?

Is there anyone competent in your company that knows how to fix this problem?

Kind regards

Hello @user_ye1v8y, and thank you for reaching out here on our Xfinity Community forums.

We completely understand why you'd expect to be able to personalize something as basic as your Wi-Fi name and password, especially after spending time trying both the Xfinity app and the Gateway Admin Tool.

With NOW Internet, the Wi-Fi network name and password are preset for the NOW Internet Gateway and currently can't be changed. That's why you aren't seeing an option to edit them in the Xfinity app, and using the 10.0.0.1 Admin Tool won't provide an alternate way to make that change.

We realize that's different from the experience you may have had with traditional Xfinity Internet service, where supported Xfinity Gateways allow Wi-Fi credentials to be customized. We also understand why receiving instructions for the Admin Tool repeatedly would have been frustrating when those instructions don't resolve the limitation you're encountering.

While the Wi-Fi name and password that come with your NOW Internet gateway can't currently be changed, you aren't necessarily stuck without other options. You can continue using the Wi-Fi information printed on your gateway, or, if having your own customized network name and password is important to you, you could connect your own Wi-Fi router or mesh system behind the gateway and create a separate wireless network that you control.

Hi

Thank you for your reply.

Good to know I can sue Xfinity if someone breaks into my system.

Unacceptable.

No one informed me that this feature was unavailable when I signed up.

@user_ye1v8y, I understand how frustrating it would be to learn after signing up that a feature you expected isn’t available. Sorry this wasn’t clear from the beginning, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns. You do have the option of placing the Xfinity Gateway in bridge mode if you prefer to use your own router.

What do you mean, 'my own router'? I paid for the one I got from you. So it is mine.

I am not interested in your explanations.

You didn't inform me before I signed up. I'm done with your company.

How can I get the refund?

@user_ye1v8y  They're talking about a router you buy at Costco, Best Buy etc. from companies like Netgear, Eero, Asus, etc.  I've never used Xfinity devices myself but some people do.

Yes, I know what they are talking about, but I don't need two routers. They should have told me before I bought theirs that I can't change the password
