Wifi Only Working In One Room
Hi,
I set up my new XB7 Gateway Modem/Router yesterday afternoon and everything was working great, my ring cameras/chime connected perfectly and devices in other rooms connected and worked. Only issue is getting my storm ready extender to connect but that is an issue for another time. Overnight something happened and all other devices, except for those in the room it was set up in (living room), no longer will connect. I tried using my phone in the kitchen, which is the next room over, and there was no internet. I've restarted my gateway and nothing changed, I would rather not have to buy pods just to get things on the same floor to get this to connect.

Some tips for improving WiFi performance;

There are other options. Google for WiFi repeaters / range extenders, WiFi mesh systems / pods, powerline ethernet adapters, MoCA adapters. Good luck !

Hey,
Hope you're doing well. Could you give some more details? Overly specific helps paint a picture so we can pretend we're there and tell you what we'd try.
I googled around for you, most people solve this by factory resetting the XB7 and setting up the gateway through the xfinity app again. I know you said you restarted the gateway so I'm sorry if you meant factory reset. Did you factory reset it or just turn it off and on?
"I tried using my phone in the kitchen and there was no internet" - as in your phone couldn't see the network in the lists of WiFi? What if you moved back into the living room, could your phone suddenly see the network?
Can you give a list of what is still connected and a list of what was connected that is no longer connected please? It may help to know if the smart TV stayed connected but the smart lightbulb disconnected. Are any of the things still connected using an ethernet cable connection and not the WiFi?
I'm not familiar with the XB7 but it looks like it runs 2 bands, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
In short, 5 is better WiFi speed but it has a shorter range. 2.4 travels farther at slower speeds. Do you know which you were connecting to? Is one of them still online and the other not?
Judging by the other support pages the XB7 is a little buggy and might need a factory reset.
Let's say you're losing the network as you leave the room but if you walk back you gain the option to connect again back. Maybe there's a lot of attenuation going on in your home? Do you live in a home with Brick walls by chance? This may sound odd but did you stuff the XB7 in-between a lot of magazines or books? Paper can absorb radio signals pretty well.
Maybe it has to do with trying to configure the storm extender? Most users seem to use the XB7 with a pod. So might just need to get that extender working.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I hope you're able to fix it.
