Use a cell phone internet service, a public WiFi hotspot, or a neighbor's internet if you need to in order to check it.
Or you can use their Xfinity App: https://www.xfinity.com/apps
Is / are the indicator light / lights on the modem lit steadily or are they blinking ?

Has your service been restored?
As @EG mentioned, good thing to check in these instances is the Xfinity status map at https://www.xfinity.com/support/statusmap. As it will provide you with a status update of the network in your area.
The article at https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/proactive-outage-notifications will also show you how to sign up for notifications by text in the event that your area is being impacted by a service interruption.
