Wifi location is incorrect. Live in GA says i'm in MA

I have to use location specific software, and this service is not working. It keeps showing my cell, home PC , and laptops as being somewhere in Randolph, Mass. I live in GA. If this is not corrected i will need to change providers.  This is apparently nothing new to Xfinity, as multiple people in our office with the same service are having the same issues. Any idea how to go about fixing this?

@user_75ba23

You likely recently received a new / different WAN (public) IP address assignment to your connection from their DHCP server / IP address pool, and the rDNS / geolocation data that is associated with it is now incorrect for you as it previously belonged to someone else that lived in that area.

Comcast shuffles blocks of IP addresses around the country all the time. ISP's don't correct this. A third party service does. Unfortunately, this is typically a *back-burner* thing to get corrected. The only thing that you can do is to report it. You can try this;

https://support.maxmind.com/geoip-data-correction-request/

http://www.ipligence.com/contact/

https://www.ip2location.com/contact/

https://www.home.neustar/contact-us

https://support.google.com/websearch/contact/ip/

Wait for the geolocation provider to approve your request. If your request is approved, the amount of time it takes to see the correction varies by provider. The average is a month or more.

@EG    Went to some of these sites and they all appear to be out of the country. Is this the only recourse to have some random company out of the US hopefully change my IP or geoloation information? No time frame or anything like that? I already have another provider running simultaneously with Xfinity as the waiting for months to see if they can correct it wasn't an option. Hopefully Xfinity can fix the issue without making its customers jump through hoops and then wait for some magical IP address fairy to change my location. Any searches in my local area are for a location 800+ miles away. Really defeats the purpose of utilizing the internet to find things in a local area. Anyway- thank you for the information- i read through a few posts and saw this was posted prior but this a band-aid  on a massive wound.  Ill continue utilizing the other provider until Xfinity can get it handled. If not- then its easy- we're all cancelling the service. Where is Starlink when you need it???

FWIW. the very first one (Max Mind) shows this: "MaxMind is privately held and based in Waltham, Massachusetts in the United States."

Good luck to you !

@EG So i tried this and they were supposed to put it through this past Tuesday (yesterday). I deleted all cookies from my browser etc and restarted my computer as well as the router....worked for about 30 minutes showing i was actually near my house in GA. Then it just switched. Right back to the same house in Randolph MA. Xifinity is garbage.
