WAN Aggregation / Link Aggregation (Arris T25 Modem/ASUS Router)
There was a previous question that was closed of course before it's time.
I have an Arris T25 dual LAN Port modem. I have an ASUS GT-AC5300 the supports Link aggregation and Duel Wan. I have internet speed with Comcast at 1200 mbps ... I have all the hardware and service from Comcast to support maxium speed.
The problem is no matter what I do, I cannot get an internet connection from my T25 when I used both ports from the modem to my router.
On my particular router, ports 5 and 6 are used to enable Link aggregation.
You would think, all I need to do is have two cat 8 cables (yes, using cat 8), connect them to the router ports 5 and 6, and turn on link aggregation on the modem and router in settings. When I do that, I get no internet coming from the T25.
These are my settings:
T25 Modem:
On My Asus router (GT-AC5300), I would turn on the following parameters:
Problem is, when I do this, there is no internet connection from the modem. A red light flashes on the router indicating such, and of course any device attached to the router has not internet. It's as if the modem does not use both ports and renders one useless.
There is a Dual WAN setting on the router also. If I do that, no difference ... that is, turning it on.
Does anyone have ANY ideas what needs to be done, in a very detailed manner what process needs to be followed to allow duel use of the ports from the T25. Please be specific as possible with whether port 1 needs to go to router 5, second modem port to router 6 etc. and the settings.
All I want to get is a hard wired internet connection to my PC that takes advantage of the Comcast service I am paying for.
Thanks
Eric

Well you need a multi gig router, one thst supports 2.5 g, your router has 8 gigabit ports, so you will never achieve over that, I have done it with the Xb7 rented gateway before, but you need one to supply 2 gigabit connections to the multi gig router, I have found success using the dual wan method, your pc network card will need to support over a gigabit also

I am seeing comments on the retailers website where I bought this that although the T25 allows both ports to be used (with a router that support Link aggregation), that Comcast itself disables the second port through their firmware update.
Can someone from Comcast please definitively answer whether on the T25 Comcast disables the second port and does NOT ALLOW link aggregation to be used? If so, wondering why I'm bothering to pay for Gigabit internet.

As part of the service that Comcast/Xfinity offers, you need to get a telephone bundle with Comcast. There are only a few modems offered that support the networked phone, and the Arris T25 is one of them.
But trying to get Comcast to respond here, or even attempt to answer a simple question is like pulling teeth.
I wonder why I bothered to waste $500 buying a new modem, router, cables and service with Comcast when the provider of the service on their OWN website does not bother to respond. Thanks a lot Comcast .... it makes me want to do business with you for years to come ....

Thanks. I want to know how you can ask someone at Comcast to respond to a post here.

Have you tried using Cat 6 or even Cat 5e cables? Some Internet sources suggest that Cat 8 may not be compatible with 1 Gbit and 2.5 Gbit ports.

Hi there @EricInPDX! I appreciate you posting your concerns with your internet connection and modem configuration. I know it is important to get the most our of your service and connection. A few concerns that I thought I would address today to help you with your connection. Since we increased our internet speeds, the Arris T25 modem is no longer compatible with our Gigabit internet tier, which now provides download speeds up to 1.2 Gbps. To review a list of compatible modems, check out https://comca.st/2VYlNiP and input your address and speed tier into the requested spots.
Secondly, there are a few ports that Comcast does indeed block. For details, here is a link that contains all the blocked internet ports: https://comca.st/3gbwvta. I hope these details help with the connection concerns you are having today!
