Upstream power close to max for the past week

My upstream power has typically been around 52 dbmv. A little high but the run from the street box to house is pretty long, so nothing worrisome.

Over the past week I noticed the upstream level has been at 58.5 on channels 1, 2, and 3. 57.5 on channel 4. I have no actual issues with the connection, no errors or disconnects in the log. But the sudden, extremely high upstream power level makes me nervous bc i feel like now there is no margin.

All connections are tight, no splitters, nothing has changed. Rebooted modem a few times. Downstream stats look great with ~44.5 snr, 4-5 dbmv power, no packet loss or errors. Does anyone have any recommendations?

@user_sfcxwb thank you for reaching out over Xfinity Forums. Working from home myself, I completely understand monitoring your connection and wanting to ensure the higher upstream level doesn't cause signal issue in the future. It's also helpful to know the steps you've already attempted on your end checking the connection points and resetting the gateway.

We do have this helpful check list that has some other recommendations you can look at:

https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/internet-troubleshooting-tips/602dae4ac5375f08cde52ea0

The Xfinity Status Center: https://www.xfinity.com/support/status or Xfinity App are both great places to check if there are any reported issues with your area equipment. The Xfinity App also has a great self-help option to run a whole networ test to see if anything out of the ordiary can be detected:

- Open Xfinity App
- Open WiFi tab
- Select Troubleshoot
- Test your whole home network

Please let me know if that was helpful, I can definitely investigate further if the signal level is still running higher.

All tests are fine.

I have the cable from the street (underground) coming into a ground block on the side of the house. Ground block is less than a year old. From the ground block a high quality 25ft cable runs inside directly to the modem. I made sure all connections are clean and tight. Nothing has changed and no disturbance to the yard has occurred that would have damaged the line from street to house. Upstream now 59 on 3 of the 4 channels. Still no actual issues with the connection but I feel it's just a matter of time before there are problems. I feel like at this point i need someone to come out and help track down the cause.

Hi @user_sfcxwb, and thanks for confirming that the testing went ok and that everything appears to be working properly in spite of the readings your seeing.

I completely understand your concern, especially since you've been monitoring the connection and have seen the upstream levels increase from where they normally sit. It's also helpful that you've already checked the connections and confirmed that you're not currently experiencing any noticeable service issues.

Typically, we wouldn't want to schedule a technician visit when the service is otherwise performing normally, as a visit where the issue is determined to be related to equipment or wiring within the home could potentially result in a service fee. That said, the change you've noticed is certainly something we'd be happy to take a closer look at from our side to see if there are any underlying signal or network issues contributing to the increased levels.

Please send us a Direct Message with your full name and complete service address, and we'll be happy to dig into this further with you.
