Uploads being blocked?

I'm wondering why I'm having an issue uploading files to my bambu 3d printers or to VR Chat on xfinity service, however, If I activate a VPN the uploads go through just fine. The VPN fix was recommended in a reddit post and it's the strangest fix in my book.

Hey @user_1ff52h , Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to reach out regarding your uploads. I would be more than happy to offer my assistance looking into this further for you. Can you provide a little background of what the VR chat is and does? Are you seeing an issue with other uploads to other devices?

VR chat is a service where you can upload virtual avatars/virtual places and interact with other in a vr setting. It is far more noticeable though when trying to send files to my 3d printers, I brought up the vr chat though because I found the vpn thing while trying to troubleshoot why I couldn't upload my virtual self to the service.

@XfinityThomasA So what is the solution? Why are these uploads being blocked by Xfinity?

Are you having the same issue with any other devices besides your 3d printer or VR Chat?

So are there any solutions other than having to blow money on a vpn?

user_1ff52h great question, so to know for sure we would need to run a few tests and ask you a few more questions. Were you able to determine if the issue is limited to only impacting the printer and VR chat?

@XfinityMarcus I haven't the foggiest what else it would affect, I can't say it's impacted video gaming any AFAIK, just seems like whenever i'm trying to upload something, it's not like they're big files either, most of my 3d print files are prolly 10mb or so in size, the avatar may have been like 1gb but it's been a while since I tried to upload another one. I don't do not youtube video uploads or anything like that so I can't tell if it's isolated to the two things i'm having a problem with. Nevertheless, it's got to be some sort of setting on xfinity's end since the vpn makes the uploads go through. Maybe there's an issue with uploads to Chinese cloud servers? I would think thr popularity of a bambu printer would be enough to allow those through as safe to allow

Are you using an Xfinity modem or you use your own personal modem?
