Unstable ping - Late Packets 1000ms+ - causing lag

Have had two tech visits each come in check signals at the modem and the wall say signals are good don’t ever see anything as I show pictures and videos of test have even done a test in front of the tech and showed videos of what it looks like on the games and been told no signal issues as if I’m making it up when there clearly is a issue along the lines somewhere

ping issue will randomly rocket to 100+ on test sites / games in intervals all day

Packetlosstest site will have minimal total loss if any but extreme late packets that exceed 1000ms

VoIP will randomly cut for a few seconds throughout usage

All Games will have a consistent micro stutter due to the issues some worse than others almost unplayable when at its full strength

Hello, user_gu1kh7 thank you for taking time to create a post, working from home myself I completely understand needing your network connection to be running optimally. You've reached out to the right place, and I would like to help get your network connection/loss packet concern resolved.

I did have a couple of questions that are helpful:

- Do you lease a xFi gateway, or are you providing your own modem?

- During the 2 visits, did the technicians check the outside connection points/lines while they were there?

1. Yes I lease a gateway from xfinity the XB7-T

2. The techs came checked the signal at the modem and the coax connection inside the home. And that was about it I’ve asked about checking whatever is in the attic or coming from outside in and was told signals are fine from the modem and wall so they haven’t .

Edit: this is through a wired connection, anything on wifi with my PC right next to my modem is extremely bad total packet loss and or late packets

Thank you for providing this information to us. Do you see an issue with speed as well?

I prefer googles speed test and it’s rare I hit 900+ it’s usually 7-800 and at times half that , and yes I have a 2.5 gig port and proper Ethernet cable

I prefer googles cause in the past xfinitys own and other popular sites showed normal speeds when it was very well broken

I upgraded to the 1.2 package as I moved here

Edit: My upload is always where it should be on rare occasions it dips

@user_gu1kh7 Thank you for keeping us posted. Are you noticing issues with online gaming exclusively, or do you see connection issues during other online activities? Are you seeing these issues on more than one device?

Yes all devices streaming platforms will buffer when its hitting hard

I mainly notice it at my PC and Game console because thats what i use the most but its widespread across anything as well as VoIP randomly disconnecting and reconnecting

Even when the late packets arent hitting at its hardest and clears up the jitter across the connection is causing terrible skipping and with the 1.2 gigabit package a few more devices than the everyday ones sends it overboard
