Unable to edit Wifi network mode to include 802.11b frequency setting

Hi, I have XFi Gateway Gen 3 which doesn't have the option to edit wifi network mode either from Xfi app or from 10.0.0.1 admin portal. From searching I found that "Customers with 2nd Generation and newer xFi Gateways (XB6 and XB7): Most of these Gateways have been upgraded with software that manages advanced WiFi settings automatically to help optimize your home network and provide the best performance possible. Advanced WiFi settings for Gateways with this software enhancement are not visible and cannot be managed from the Admin Tool or Xfinity xFi."

Can someone please let me know if there is any other way to edit this to include or change to 802.11b frequency setting?

Thanks

Hello @user_78b10c, thank you for taking the time to reach out to us on the forums I hope you are doing well. You are correct most of our gateways now have the feature to manage your WiFi settings automatically for best performance.

Your Xfinity Gateway will automatically detect and connect devices using the optimal channel to provide the best WiFi signal at any given time. This selection is based on several factors, including the number of other devices currently using a channel, the distance from the device to the Gateway, and whether the device is capable of connecting using 5 GHz.

If you don't see the 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi channel settings (i.e., WiFi Mode, Channel Selection, and Channel Mode), it means that these settings are being managed automatically to help optimize your home network and provide the best performance possible.

@XfinitySean

The problem I have is I have one old device fitbit Aria which cannot detect the wifi network at all, when I checked their helpline I was told the device only supports 802.11b standards. Is there a way to select 802.11b standard so that my device can be connected? Thanks

Hi @user_78b10c. This is a great question! Unfortunately, if the Fitbit can only connect to 802.11b, it will not be able to connect to our modems. The Fitbit does not have the Wi-Fi technology to connect to the device.

Well the xb7 is backward compatible to include those older wifi technology by default, i have found the problem to be that the 2.4 and 5 bands are combines into one, that causes some problems, you can split the bands up, that might help you out,
