Unable to access website necessary for working from home

I am absolutely furious because for the second time in a month I am unable to access the website shibboleth.umich.edu in order for me to work from home,. This is outrageous. It is the only website in the entire internet that I cannot access, and it is the only website that matters. Why is this happening!!!!

I can access this website from any other network except my home network. Infuriating. And we just changed the modem like three weeks ago. There is no acceptable explanation for why this is happening to me, and I need it fixed immediately!!!.

... unable to access the website ...

What happens when you try? What response do you get?

@BruceW it just says err_connection_timed_out every single time. Again, this is the only website in the entire internet for which this happens. I can access this website from any other network. I've cleaned out my cache and cookies, reset the modem (which is brand new by the way), and the problem remains.

this is what I experience every time I try to log in to any University of Michigan website that requires two-factor authentication

I get a "U-M Weblogin / Enter your Login ID and Password" page at that site on my Xfinity Internet. If you have an Xfinity gateway, have you tried turning off "Advanced Security"?

That's what you're supposed to get. I can't even get to that page because I get the message err_connection_timed_out

To your point earlier, I can't even get to the page where I'm supposed to enter my Umich ID and password, the connection simply times out and does not respond.

Hey @user_drdz08,

Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. With issues accessing one specific web page, have you attempted to just power cycle the modem by unplugging the modem for 20-30 seconds and plug the device back in? I know it sounds weird, but this sometimes helps get the website going through.

@XfinityDemitrius of course I tried that. That was the first thing I did, and it did not help at all. I am no longer experiencing this particular problem, but that is little comfort because I was never provided an explanation as to why I couldn't reach this site, nor that anything had been done to prevent this issue from happening again in the future. It's already happened to me twice since May 5. And there is practically no customer service help for this problem, so I an extremely unhappy with the service provided.

user_drdz08, We never want this to be your experience with Xfinity. There are so many things that could have factored into this issue. There may have been a setting on your browser that prevented the website from loading. One thing to try if this happens again, is to try accessing the website incognito.
1. Open Google Chrome.
2. Click the Three vertical dots in the settings menu icon in the top-right corner of the window.
3. Click New incognito window.
4. That’s it! Pages you view in incognito tabs won’t stick around in your browser’s history, cookie store, or search history after you’ve closed all of your incognito tabs. Any files you download or bookmarks you create will be kept.

Also, if this happens again, we can have you send us a DM, so we can troubleshoot with you and try to find the cause of the problem. We don't want you to continue going through this every time you need this site. We appreciate you being an Xfinity customer and want to make your experience better.
