turn off wifi

I have been getting headaches from the microwave electromagnetic radiation from the router.  I put an oven pan over it and my headaches are better.  I cabled my 2 computers and smart tv to the router/modem.  I want to turn off wifi to stop the radiation.  Can you please do that for me.  Thanks, Jim

I am sorry to hear about your headaches. I get them all the time due to my allergies which have flared up due to the pollen in the area. Are you using an Xfinity Gateway or your own modem?

Thank you Jim. You can follow the steps with the link: https://comca.st/3FYt3ha to put your modem into bridge mode. Any ethernet port can be used but only one device can be connected to the gateway while in Bridge Mode. To disable to hotspot WiFi you would need to follow the link: https://comca.st/3MjPOy9 to complete this step.

Be advised that if you use option number 2 above to turn off the hotspot, the gateway devices still broadcast a "Hidden" network that is used for interfacing with their home security systems. And that it can not be disabled..

You can buy a 3rd party approved 'cable modem' that does not have a radio (no WiFi).  You can find a current list of these for whatever speed tier you want by checking your location here:  https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices/

Alternatively, a lot of 3rd party 'gateways' have a radio off feature.  Check the user manual before you buy it to see if is an option.  That option does in fact work on my Netgear, or at least the radio signal does not appear (hidden or otherwise) when I use a free WiFi scanner like Acrylic home WiFi (windows) or iwlist for Linux.

Don't mess around with headaches though.  A neurologist can mitigate if not cure them.
