Tried to set up Arris S33 to replace X1 but failed

First, disconnected the coaxial cable from X1, which was working fine, and connected to S33. The Xfinity app did not recognize the S33, though I had input the MAC ID and S/N. (The S33 box did not come with a QR code.) The Arris SurfBoard app said to contact technical support but I could not because there was no Internet service. Would like to learn from people who successfully did the switch. Thanks.

Try calling 1-855-652-3446. That is their self-install device activation line.


If that doesn't work for you, you can call 1-800-comcast and tell a rep that you would like to have a new modem provisioned for service. Have the RF / CM / HFC MAC address and the serial number of it handy when you call.
